Cameron Diaz: ‘I Felt Sick In My Own Body’


Cameron Diaz admitted that the recent holidays took a toll on her shape. She said, “I felt sick in my own body.”

“I ate everything and was not exercising as much to offset my food intake. I was not managing myself. My body looks different now than it did two weeks ago. I am not going to beat myself up about that.”

I ate the stuff I wanted to eat. I didn’t restrict myself from things that made me happy. I was eating that way with my family and friends. We eat pork roast for Christmas, tacos the next day. I eat the pork skin, pork fat and the beef fat. That’s my treat.”

Now, she’s back on the road to eating only healthy food and she’s exercising again. She hopes her body will soon get back to where it was.

Diaz, at 41, understands that not everyone is lucky enough to have her “blessed gene pool.” She points out that you can “love your own amazing body. Know that body. The only way you can know that body is by taking care of it properly. If you are eating processed foods, and you’re not getting all your nutrients, not exercising properly, then you are not living in the body that you were meant to live in”.

When Diaz was younger, eating fast food was a habit. This poor eating gave her problems with acne; when she started eating healthier foods, her skin cleared up.

Diaz says it is necessary to eat most of your food in its natural form. The trick is to allow yourself some indulgences occasionally. And, importantly, to replace most sugary drinks with water.

And then, of course, there is the question of exercise. Diaz has had a workout regime for many years. She says that she doesn’t regard exercise as a chore; it’s just something she needs to do to keep her body in shape.

“Today I also did leg exercises and weights with the upper body. I didn’t go hard today, but I got a good sweat on. I don’t look at exercise as a chore. I look at it as something I get to do. I am grateful that I can move my body in that way.”

For Cameron Diaz, the motivation for eating well and exercising regularly is thinking ahead to her leading a long and healthy life.

She says: “I want to make sure I don’t get sick. If I’m blessed to get older, I want to make sure I can maintain quality of life.”

So, if you want to look as good as Cameron Diaz, you know what to do. No pain – No gain!
