‘The Walking Dead’: David Morrissey Dodges Question About The Governor’s Return

The Walking Dead star David Morrissey isn’t giving any definite answers one way or another about the possible return of the Governor. Beware: There are spoilers ahead.

The mid-season finale of AMC’s hit zombie drama found the one-eyed villain taking a bullet to the cranium. However, many people have wondered about the character’s true fate since we didn’t actually see the bullet enter his skull. In the world of television and cinema that makes all the difference when it comes to death.

Since everyone wants to know if the Governor will eventually return to The Walking Dead at some point down the road, someone decided to pose the question to star David Morrissey. Since he’s not in a position to give anything away, the actor nimbly avoided handing over any concrete answers.

“Something happened to him. I feel like a shady politician where I can’t confirm and I can’t deny anything. Certainly, bad things befell him at the end of the last episode but we just have to wait and see,” Morrissey recently told the Press Association.

Regardless of the character’s true fate on the show, it’s clear that the actor has relished playing the villain. Morrissey said he doesn’t mind the boos and jeers he sometimes receives from The Walking Dead fans. In his mind, this indicates a job well done.

“It’s one of the biggest shows on TV. My fanbase in America has really grown, and I love that — they’re very vocal fans, and amazing and I find it so heart-warming to be amongst them — even though they boo me because I’m the villain! But that means I’m doing a good job,” Morrissey recently explained.

He added, “It’s a show that really does punch large and I’m very proud to be associated with [it]. I love being on ‘The Walking Dead,’ I love playing The Governor and it’s given me such a great connection with the public.”

As far as The Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd is currently concerned, the Governor is dead and buried. She recently said, “That was a head shot! Lilly shot him.”

Depending on whom you ask, there’s definitely something horrible lurking in the final episodes of season four. Not only did star Andrew Lincoln say there are a few shocking moments in store for fans, Comicbook.com believes one of the major characters could bite the dust.

“We’ve got a pretty good indication of which cast member will be dying, and let’s just say it will be a real shocker. If what we believe is correct, then one of the main cast members who has not been killed in the comic book series will die,” the website recently teased.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 9. Do you believe that we’ve seen the last of the Governor this season?
