Ed Sheeran recently tweeted that there’s an announcement on the way.
Instead of surprising his fans and followers with whatever it is he has waiting in the wings, the singer got tongues wagging by dropping a teaser on Twitter. What sort of announcement does Sheeran have in store for everyone? That detail is currently under wraps. However, it would appear that something profound is on the way.
“Announcement coming January 6th,” he teased.
That’s pretty much all you’re getting from the guy right now. Is he plotting a tour or releasing a new album? Will he and Taylor Swift finally declare their undying love for one another with a sappy post on the micro-blogging site? It’s truly anybody’s guess.
However, it’s no secret that Ed Sheeran is working on a new batch of songs at the moment. The songwriter previously teased that he would devote a considerable amount of time to the new tunes once he finished promoting his Desolation of Smaug tune “I See Fire” during the awards season.
Sheeran also remarked that best friend Taylor Swift approves of the material he recently put together. This could mean that a new album is looming on the horizon. Again, this is all speculation on our part. After all, the guy didn’t cough up many details about his announcement.
The Inquisitr previously reported that Ed Sheeran recently joined forces with singer Christina Perri for the tune “Be My Forever.” Perri co-wrote the tune with Jamie Scott, though she enlisted Sheeran to help her bring the song to life.
“I was like, ‘This has to be a duet and it has to be with Ed Sheeran. Please! He’s my number one choice and it’s all I want. It’s perfect for me and him.’ He doesn’t really sing a lot of happy songs either, so we laugh about that. It’s both of us doing the happiest song. He’s my friend, and it just felt perfect,” Perri said.
Sheeran found some free time during his tour with Taylor Swift to record the tune in Los Angeles. Even the singer’s cousin helped out with Perri’s new tune. According to Christina, she had an absolute blast working on the song with Ed in the studio.
Of course, none of this information brings us closer to what Ed Sheeran wants to announce next week. Keep your eyes glued to his Twitter feed on January 6 if you’re at all curious to know what he’s plotting.
