Lady Gaga’s Ex Threatens To Sue Over ‘Villain’ Portrayal In Book

Lady Gaga’s ex-boyfriend is threatening to sue over his portrayal as a “villain” in a book about the “Do What U Want” singer’s early career.

Luc Carl is threatening to sue Brendan Jay Sullivan, Lady Gaga’s longtime friend and author of Rivington Was Ours. Carl has sent legal letters to Sullivan and publisher HarperCollins over the way he is portrayed in the book, which was released in August. Sullivan said that Carl was an “inattentive and possessive boyfriend” who tried to control where Lady Gaga was allowed to work and who she could speak to.

Sullivan also said Carl, a heavy metal drummer, was frequently pursued by female fans during his relationship with Gaga. The night Gaga learned that she would be recording an album with Island Records, she shared the news with Sullivan while Carl “became distracted by a small coterie of drunk girls.”

Sullivan also said the New York native dyed her hair naturally dark hair blonde to keep Carl’s attention. According to Sullivan, Carl wasn’t very supportive of Gaga’s career, which only helped fuel her desire to succeed.

“Gaga told me herself that Lüc told her early in her career, ‘I hope you fail,’ and that gave her the fire she needed at the time to fight for her dreams,” Sullivan said.

Lady Gaga and Luc Carl broke up in 2008 after three years of dating. Carl admitted that he wasn’t the best boyfriend, saying last year, “I was f?**?king miserable, and it wasn’t her fault. It was my fault for being a drunk a?-?-?hole. I would have left me, too.”

Gaga has since “found love” with Chicago Fire star Taylor Kinney. The 27-year-old told Fashion magazine, “It has been hard for me to find it, but I have found love. When you meet someone that’s not intimidated by the amazing people that are around you [or] by the love that you receive — that’s love.”
