Carmen Electra Says ‘I Owe My Success To Prince’

Carmen Electra has released a new single entitled WERQ. She describes it as “part pop, dance, electro”.

Carmen, 41, (real name, Tara Leigh Patrick) told America’s OK! magazine she wants to empower others with her music, and she expects her fans to gain self-confidence while listening to the track.
She continued:

“Self-empowerment and empowering others [inspired the song]. Taking what you got and making it WERQ!

My plan is to finish the album and in between that, shoot the new video for WERQ, and I will be popping up and performing the new material.

[You can expect to hear on my album] more fun, uplifting songs that you can dance to with a positive message.”

Carmen Electra acknowledges that former boyfriend Prince helped launch her music career when he signed her to his music label Paisley Park Records in 1991.

But now, Electra and Prince aren’t talking to each other, She said: “No [we don’t stay in touch], but I will always have gratitude toward him for believing in me as an artist and giving me the opportunity to spend every day playing at Paisley Park studios, which was like the Willy Wonka of music, performance, and creativity.”

Carmen said, “I felt like I had been given the golden ticket to the chocolate factory!”

Carmen Electra has been married twice. Her first marriage to Dave Navarro lasted a respectable – by Hollywood standards – four years.

Her second marriage to basketball icon Dennis Rodman is still remembered as one of the shortest marriages ever recorded.

It lasted six days.
