Aaron Rodgers Addresses Gay Rumors During Radio Show

Aaron Rodgers, the star quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, tried to put to rest the rumors that he is gay during his weekly radio show.

Rumors started swirling around the internet this week, almost immediately following the Packers clinching of the Division title against the Bears last Sunday.

Aaron Rodgers had just returned to the starting position –after being out since November 8– and led his team to victory against the Packers’ arch rivals, the Chicago Bears, when rumors that he is gay intensified.

According to celebrity gossip personality Perez Hilton, Rodgers was outed by an ex-boyfriend and was ready to come out last summer, but backed down.

The man in question is Aaron Rodgers’ roommate and personal assistant Kevin Lanflisi, Hilton says.

However, the quarterback denied the rumors during his Tuesdays with Aaron radio show with host Jason Wilde on 540 ESPN Wisconsin.

Wilde asked Aaron Rodgers about the negative aspects of being a celebrity, especially in Wisconsin, where he is revered as not only an athlete, but a person.

The MVP said it’s hard to be “on” for fans all the time and confessed he doesn’t like to have his picture taken while he is eating.

Rodgers then addressed the rumors about his sexuality, without being asked:

“I’m just going to say I’m not gay. I really, really like women. That’s all I can say about that.”

The talk show host appeared to be uncomfortable asking the question directly to Aaron Rodgers and said he felt bad about the rumors because they make being gay sound like something negative.

However the quarterback went on:

“There’s always going to be silly stuff out there in the media. You can’t worry too much about. I don’t. Just keep on trucking. I think professional is professional and personal is personal. That’s just how I’m going to keep it.”

And with that, Aaron Rodgers hopes to put the rumors that he is gay to rest, but it may not be that simple because he has allegedly been the recipient of anti-gay slurs on the field.

Aaron Rodgers has reportedly been dating long-time girlfriend Destiny Newton for the last several years, and some rumors say they are engaged. He also has a large fan following, as well as being respected by his peers.
