Jennifer Lawrence Was The Most Bankable Box Office Star Of 2013


Jennifer Lawrence made a lot of money for the Hollywood machine during 2013.

If you’re tired of reading about the American Hustle star, then you might want to turn off the internet altogether. Wherever your eyes wander these days, Lawrence isn’t too far away. Even those who can’t stand the girl have a hard time denying her current box office power.

According to the folks over at Quigley Publishing Company, Jennifer Lawrence was the top money-making star of 2013. A lot of this has to do with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, a motion picture that continues to make serious bank all over the world. Expect that thing to blow up huge on Blu-ray later this year.

Lawrence was previously named as one of Quigley’s Stars of Tomorrow in 2012. However, this is the first time someone from that list made the jump to the very top of the group’s annual money-making round-up. Considering the projects she has lined up for 2014, there’s a very good chance she’ll find herself on this list at least one more time.

Of course, the Catching Fire star wasn’t the only actress who helped the boys and girls in Hollywood make tons of money during 2013. Sandra Bullock found her name directly beneath Jennifer Lawrence on the Quigley list with some help from The Heat and the acclaimed sci-fi drama Gravity.

Jennifer Lawrence made a lot of lists at the end of 2013 thanks to her banner year at the box office. Not only was she named as one of Variety magazine’s most influential people of the year, she was also declared Entertainer of the Year by the folks at The Associated Press.

As for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the movie continues to generate healthy wads of cash from moviegoers around the planet. As of this writing, the sequel has reportedly earned $797 million worldwide. The movie should arrive on home video this spring.

Fans who need a Jennifer Lawrence fix this year should definitely have plenty of projects to choose from. The actress will reprise her role as Mystique in director Bryan Singer’s highly-anticipated superhero flick X-Men: Days of Future Past. The movie opens in theaters across the country on May 23.

If you prefer something a bit more dramatic and less action-packed, then keep your eyes peeled for Susanne Bier’s Serena. The film finds Lawrence teaming up with her American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook co-star Bradley Cooper once again.
