Katy Perry Learns To Stop Googling Her Own Name

Katy Perry learned the hard way to stop searching for her own name on Google.

Like fellow singer and frequent blogger fodder Miley Cyrus, Perry made the conscious decision to stop looking herself up online. Since there are a ton of sites saying so many unflattering things, Katy doesn’t anymore to do with it.

Katy Perry’s decision to turn off Google Alerts follows rumors that she was extremely bored during Britney Spears’ first Las Vegas performance. Video of the “Roar” singer hanging out at the gig circulated online, prompting some to declare that she was wholly unimpressed with the concert.

It’s hard to say if her decision to avoid Googling her name is a direct result of these articles. Either way, it would appear that she’s fed up with reading some of the stuff people have to say about her these days.

“My image is just something superficial. I also try not to pay attention to what other people think of me,” Perry recently explained.

She added, “I used to have Google alerts set up, which would notify me about everything that was being written about me. But I’ve stopped all that now. After all; there are more important things in life.”

The more important things in her life right now include a hit record, an upcoming world tour, and boyfriend John Mayer. Although their relationship got off to a bumpy start, Katy Perry recently told Ellen DeGeneres that everything has since fallen into place.

“We have a lot of fun. You know, we have music as an understanding and love between each other, and we connect, and you know it’s like he understands what I do because he does the same thing. And so after a long day, if it’s been tough, I don’t really have to go into it. He just gets it. You know, so it’s nice with that understanding,” Perry explained.

As for the upcoming world tour, the singer teased that the shows will be a completely different experience. She also said fans should expect a much more mature production than what they’ve encountered in the past.

“I’m just really excited. I just did a big tour meeting yesterday and saw the graphic drawing of the stage and it’s unlike anything I’ve seen for any other artist and it’s unlike anything I’ve ever done. It’s different, it’s fresh, it’s clean and it’s actually in the middle of the audience it feels like,” she explained during her recent chat.

Perry added, “I get to be close with them at all times. I’m going to bring all the bells and whistles like it was last time but it won’t be so highly narrated.”
