Angry Birds Developer Rovio Mobile Plans IPO, Waiting 2-3 Years

Angry Birds developer Rovio Mobile has set a goal for their initial public offering (IPO), the company which raised $42 million in Series A funding earlier this year plans to go public sometime in the next 2-3 years.

This week Angry Birds which was already available for Android, iOS and webOS hit the web via the Google Chrome browser, while the games viral nature has made it one of the most talked about and downlaoded mobile applications of all time. In fact the game is so popular that Rovio Mobile has extended their staff from 12 to 100 employees in 2011 alone.

Speaking with Rueters Rovio CEO Mikael Hed said of his company’s plans:

“I see that this is only beneficial for us in terms of making the company more structured and more focused on creating it into a proper large organization, having grown from a company of 12.”

The public company that Angry Birds built, I like the sound of that.
