Jennifer Love Hewitt May Land Starring Role On ‘Law & Order: SVU’

Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt may soon have a new role. According to whispers Hewitt is in talks to take a starring role on the hit TV show Law & Order: SVU.

Industry insiders say Hewitt would take over as the role of Det. Elliot Stabler’s (Christopher Meloni) partner when Det. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is promoted to a supervisor role within the department approximately half way through the season.

According to Deadline Hollywood no contracts have been drafted at this time but the prospect is looking great. You may recall that Hewitt won praise earlier in the season when she played a female who was being stalked and raped repeatedly by the same man for 15 years.

Part of the move comes as Hargitay recently adopted a baby daughter and signed onto the 13th season with fewer work hours.

In the meantime Meloni is asking for a raise which means numbers will have to be crunched before anything is finalized.
