Demi Lovato Confirms ‘X Factor’ Departure, Ready To Focus On Her Music

Demi Lovato recently confirmed that’s she’s bidding farewell to The X Factor. However, the singer isn’t planning to sit back and relax anytime soon.

The Inquisitr previously reported that the former Sonny with a Chance star was leaving the televised singing competition to focus on music. Lovato recently explained to reporters that she is, in fact, leaving the show. Instead of helping other people break into the business, she wants to focus on her own career for a little while.

The folks at E! Online managed to catch up with Demi Lovato shortly after The X Factor finale on Wednesday. The singer confirmed that she won’t return for next season’s installment of the competition.

While Lovato described the experience as nothing short of amazing, she admitted that she’s “itching to go back to music.” Whatever you do, don’t refer to this departure as a break. Lovato told the outlet that she doesn’t have any intention of resting on her laurels.

“I wouldn’t call it I’m taking the year off… I’m getting ready to go on a bunch of tours that I’m planning and that I’ve announced. I’m going to start the Neon Lights tour, which is going to be an awesome show that I’ve never done before,” she explained.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Demi Lovato is currently preparing to kick off her Neon Lights tour. The singer is also reportedly set to release her album Demi this February.

“I started the show being a singer and a musician, and so I’m going to go back to that. It’s been really great, but I’m so excited for 2014. I’m going to dedicate it completely and entirely to music — touring and making a new album. Possibly releasing one,” she told reporters.

Although some fans are a little shocked that Lovato is bidding farewell to The X Factor so soon, fellow judge and series mastermind Simon Cowell doesn’t seem too surprised by the recent announcement. Since the singer is preparing to tour the globe in 2014, he only expected her to stick around for about two years.

Cowell also added that Demi Lovato is welcome to come back anytime she wants. In his words, the door is always open. In the meantime, Cowell is currently on the prowl for a replacement. He joked that Miley Cyrus could possibly step in for Lovato on the show, though producers haven’t approached anyone as of this writing.
