Kevin Costner, Amber Heard Only Have ‘3 Days To Kill’ [Video]

Kevin Costner and Amber Heard star in director McG’s upcoming action-thriller 3 Days to Kill. Check out the first trailer for the flick below.

Co-written by The Family director Luc Besson, the Bull Durham star’s latest cinematic endeavor follows the story of a Secret Service Agent (Costner) who attempts to reconnect with his daughter before he dies. However, our hero could gain access to a life-saving experimental drug if he completes one final assignment.

Amber Heard plays Kevin Costner’s boss in 3 Days to Kill, a role that finds the Machete Kills alum sporting a sleek black outfit and bright red lipstick. She’s the very definition of femme fatale in the flick.

Judging from the clip you see below, the movie is taking more than a few cues from director Pierre Morel and co-writer Luc Besson’s endeavor Taken. That movie also deals with a very deadly gentleman battling an unruly assortment of villains while dealing with family issues. A similar formula was also employed in the Aaron Eckhart thriller Erased.

Despite the similarities to other motion pictures, 3 Days to Kill has something going for it that the aforementioned flicks didn’t: Kevin Costner. It’s good to see the award-winning actor tackling a role that lets him knock bad guys around for roughly 90 minutes.

Check out the official synopsis:

“In this heart pounding action-thriller, Kevin Costner is a dangerous international spy, who is determined to give up his high stakes life to finally build a closer relationship with his estranged wife and daughter, whom he’s previously kept at arm’s length to keep out of danger. But first, he must complete one last mission – even if it means juggling the two toughest assignments yet: hunting down the world’s most ruthless terrorist and looking after his teenage daughter for the first time in ten years, while his wife is out-of-town.”

Before he was Superman’s earthly guardian in Man of Steel, Costner starred in a number of noteworthy thrillers. In addition to The Untouchables, No Way Out, and The Bodyguard, the actor appeared in director Tony Scott’s incredibly underrated crime drama Revenge.

Costner fans can also catch the guy in the upcoming spy flick Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and Ivan Reitman’s Draft Day. The busy actor also stars in writer-director Mike Binder’s drama Black and White alongside Octavia Spencer and Jennifer Ehle.

Kevin Costner and Amber Heard will take down a ton of bad guys when 3 Days to Kill hits the big screen on February 21, 2014. Are you looking forward to the upcoming thriller?
