Lil Wayne Dead: Newest Facebook Report False, May Spread A Virus

Lil Wayne is not dead, despite the newest in a long line of rumors about the rapper’s demise.

The latest report comes from Facebook, with a video circulating that reads “RIP Rapper Lil Wayne Found Dead.” It is difficult to find the source of this newest rumor, though the video does prompt users to share it on Facebook before they can view it. In the past, this has been the template for viruses aimed at gaining users personal information.

The rapper has been the center of a number of other fake death reports, including one in the spring of this year and again in the summer.

Lil Wayne faced an actual death scare earlier this year after being hospitalized for seizures. At the time celebrity outlet TMZ reported that the rapper was on his death bed and received last rites, adding that his mother was flying to see him and decide whether to pull the plug.

The report was pretty far off the mark, but Lil Wayne did say later that the situation was quite serious.

“The thing is, man, the bad news is, I’m an epileptic, so I’m prone to seizures,” Wayne said in a radio interview. “This isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I’ve had a bunch of seizures; y’all just never hear about it. This time it got real bad because I got three of ’em in a row, and on the third one, my heart rate went down to, like, 30 percent. Basically, I could’ve died soon. That’s why it was so serious. The reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest and overworking myself. That’s typical me, though.”

The latest reports that Lil Wayne was dead spread on Twitter and were met with a mix of shock and skepticism.

Not only is Lil Wayne not dead, but he’s still working just as much as ever. This week singer Chris Brown released the song “Loyal” featuring Lil Wayne and French Montana.
