Tara Reid is one of the few famous faces tapped to star in the upcoming parody The Hungover Games. In case you were wondering, this is definitely a real motion picture.
Apparently movies like Meet the Spartans and Vampires Suck have enough fans to warrant even more endeavors designed around parodying box office hits. The latest entry in this questionable genre is director Josh Stolberg’s The Hungover Games, a flick that takes a stab at movies you probably saw several months ago.
Although it begins as a parody of The Hangover — a spoof that’s dated in and of itself — the guys from that story eventually find themselves in a goofy version of The Hunger Games. Sharknado star Tara Reid tackles the role of Effing, a play on the character portrayed by Elizabeth Banks in Suzanne Collins’ novels.
The flick also includes parodies of Seth MacFarlane’s Ted, the reality show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and a few other properties that were really famous last year. Since Stolberg and all five of his screenwriters are poking fun at admittedly dated material, we have the sneaking suspicion that this thing was sitting on the proverbial shelf for quite some time.
In addition to Tara Reid, the filmmakers also wrangled Bruce Jenner, Brandi Glanville, Jonathan Silverman, Jamie Kennedy, and Robert Wagner for the flick. Curious parties will have a chance to see these folks in action when the movie arrives at some point in 2014.
If all of this sounds vaguely familiar, then you probably remember the fake trailer for The Hungover Games posted by Funny or Die last year. Although that wasn’t a legit motion picture, the one starring Tara Reid is apparently the real deal.
Of course, this isn’t the only Hunger Games parody on the market. Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the guys behind Date Movie and Epic Movie, put together their own spoof not too long ago. Their flick The Starving Games arrived on Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD last month.
