Britney Spears Debuts Sexy ‘Perfume’ Music Video [Watch]

Britney Spears recently unveiled the sexy music video for her tune “Perfume.”

The clip finds the singer hanging around a neon-soaked hotel room with a scruffy hunk while wearing some revealing lingerie. Since this is a video for “Perfume,” Spears stands half-naked in a bathroom as she sprays herself with some sort of fragrance. Of course, it doesn’t take long for her character to discover the guy is cheating on her. So it goes.

Since Britney Spears revealed that latest album Britney Jean contains a ton of material inspired by real-life situations, there’s a chance “Perfume” deals with an emotional situation she’s experienced in recent years. In fact, the singer told the folks at E! Online that the song hits “very close to home.”

“I think the story is relatable to everyone. Everyone’s been through an insecure moment in a relationship that’s left them vulnerable and I think this song captures that,” Spears explained.

Instead of simply cranking out songs for the dance floor, the singer revealed in a letter to fans that she wanted to pen tunes that everyone could relate to in one way or another. In order to make that happen, she worked with acclaimed producers will.i.am and William Orbit to bring this material to the masses.

“They have listened to all of my ideas and helped me bring them to life. There are a lot of really fun, upbeat dance songs, but it was important to me that I show my strength, and my attitude, and my vulnerability… I want to show you the different sides of Britney,” she said.

Unfortunately for Spears, all of this soul-searching isn’t generating strong sales at the moment. The Inquisitr previously reported that Britney Jean landed at number four on the Billboard charts, the lowest debut of her entire career. Even the singer’s first album sold more copies than her latest musical endeavor.

According to The Wrap, Britney Jean moved just 107,000 copies during its first week at retail. The website points out that a lack of serious promotion is probably the reason the album performed so poorly out of the gate. The singer is currently busy putting the finishing touches on her upcoming Las Vegas residency.

Of course, all of this might turn around for Britney Spears in a matter of months. Album sales could definitely see a significant boost once the singer hits the stage at Planet Hollywood on December 27. All it takes are a handful of incredible performances and good word of mouth to get people excited about purchasing her music again.
