‘Mummified’ body of former Playmate Yvette Vickers found in California home

It appears that “early Playmate” and B-movie actress Yvette Vickers lay undiscovered for some time in her home after her death, possibly for nearly a year.

82-year-old Vickers’ “mummified” body was found in an upstairs bedroom in her home last week, and reports indicate the woman had not been seen alive for a long period before the discovery. A neighbor of the woman, actress Susan Savage, said she spotted some signs something was amiss and decided to investigate:

“The letters [in the mailbox] seemed untouched and were starting to yellow,” Savage said. “I just had a bad feeling.”

After pushing open a barricaded front gate and scaling a hillside, Savage peered through a broken window with another piece of glass taped over the hole. She decided to enter the house after seeing a shock of blond hair, which turned out to be a wig.

Savage, who found Vickers’ “unrecognizable” body on the floor of the bedroom, was tearful when describing her friend’s fate:

“We’ve all been crying about this,” she said. “Nobody should be left alone like that.”

Vickers starred in movies including Attack of the 50-Foot Woman and Attack of the Giant Leeches in her heyday.
