Ginger Zee, the well known and much loved Rockford High School grad, has a new job. She is taking over from Sam Champion on Good Morning America as weather girl; Champion has a new job at The Weather Channel.
It is hard for GMA to see Champion go as he is one of the main reasons why the show is the top rated network morning show over NBC’s Today Show.
Zee spoke to reporters about her unprecedented success at such a young age:
“You know, some people will work their entire lives and at some point say maybe ‘that’s not the goal for me.’ I have just been so fortunate this whole way, and not to say that I haven’t worked hard. There were so many times where I was in Flint, Michigan and I was seriously eating a bean burrito, just one every day because it was 79 cents and that’s all I could afford.”
Ginger Zee was born in California and raised in Michigan. Her name comes from ‘Gilligan’s Island”, which her father watched to learn English when he moved to America From Holland. Ginger was his favorite character.
The Inquisitr reported back in August that Ginger Zee got engaged to her long time boyfriend Ben Aaron. At the time of her engagement Zee said: “My heart is so full! I really feel like I’m the luckiest girl in the world.”
