Anchorman 2 Cast Sings ‘Afternoon Delight’ At Sydney Premiere

Anchorman 2 is still three weeks away, but fans of the Channel 4 News Team are already getting their fill of comedy.

This week, the stars of the much-awaited movie performed their trademark song “Afternoon Delight” live at the Sydney premiere of the movie.

At the event, Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell, and David Koechner covered the 1976 hit from Starland Vocal Band. In the first Anchorman movie, the stars sang an a capella version of the song in anchor Ron Burgundy’s office.

The stars have been doing a lot of appearances lately in character to promote Anchorman 2. Will Ferrell has appeared on Conan O’Brien as Ron Burgundy, an appearance in which he stumped for crack smoking Toronto mayor Rob Ford. He’s also shown up in a Dodge Durango commercial and will make an appearance on a Canadian cable sports channel as an on-air announcer.

Fans will have even more comedy to look forward to after Anchorman 2 is released. Director Adam McKay said there is so much footage that ended up on the cutting room floor that he plans to make an alternate cut of the movie, just as he did in the original Anchorman.

McKay said he envisions the alternate Anchorman 2 as a midnight movie.

“We did so much improv on this one that we can literally replace every single joke in the movie and put in alt scenes and alt improv runs,” he said. :I think the editor’s working on it right now, with 250 new jokes. I think it would be really funny to put it in theaters for midnight showings. I know that I personally, if I loved a movie and someone told me that, like if ‘Airplane!’ had been released with all-new jokes, I’d be like, ‘you’ve got to be f***ing kidding me!’ I’d see it in a second.”

Anchorman 2 will hit theaters on December 20.
