Childish Gambino Releases Artwork From Upcoming Album, First Song Leaks

Childish Gambino isn’t thrilled that the first song from his upcoming album Because the Internet, but he’s more than happy to share artwork with fans.

On Friday the rapper took to Instagram to share the cover of the album, which features a holographic design on the cover and a four-fold breakdown inside the packaging. The album is due out December 10, featuring appearances from Problem, Chance The Rapper, Jhene Aiko, and Azealia Banks.

Childish Gambino, also known as comedian and Community actor Donald Glover, has been a fan of sharing intimate details with fans via Instagram. In October he shared a series of handwritten papers telling fans how anxiety over how he was perceived led him to leave Community.

Glover wrote: “I’m afraid people hate who I really am. I’m afraid I hate who I really am.” In another one, Glover said he was afraid of “letting everyone down” and that he didn’t want Community creator Dan Harmon to hate him.

Glover later said that he just wanted to blow off some steam.

“That night, we had a show, and then afterwards, I had this moment of feeling like, ‘What’s the point? Why am I even here?'” Donald Glover told People. “I just wanted to write down my feelings. I definitely was just expressing myself.”

He also told fans he wasn’t actually depressed.

“If I’m depressed, everybody’s depressed,” he said. “I don’t think those feelings are that different from what everybody’s feeling. Most people just don’t tell everybody.”

“I was just tired of telling people I was tired. It felt like every day someone would ask, ‘What’s wrong. Are you OK?'” he added. “And I would say, ‘I’m tired, I’m tired.’ I didn’t want to do that anymore. I guess sometimes not telling the truth is just as bad as telling a lie.”

This week saw more details of Because the Internet come out, when the track “Sweatpants” leaked. Glover wasn’t too pleased, saying it wasn’t ready to be heard yet.
