Jennifer Lawrence Is ‘Too Cool To Be A Sweetheart,’ Says Julia Roberts

Jennifer Lawrence is a sweetheart, but she’s apparently a little too cool to be America’s sweetheart. According to Julia Roberts, that is.

Although some people were quick to toss the busy actress into the same bin as Meg Ryan and Julia Roberts, the Pretty Woman star doesn’t think Lawrence fits the bill. In Roberts’ opinion, the Hunger Games star is too cool to wear the title.

According to The Huffington Post, Catching Fire co-star Josh Hutcherson recently remarked that Jennifer Lawrence had joined the ranks of Roberts and Ryan to become one of America’s favorite sweethearts. While promoting her new movie, August: Osage County, Roberts decided to weigh in on the matter.

“How many are there of us? She shoots flaming arrows. Is this a new cupid tactic?” Roberts told MTV News regarding the 23-year-old actress.

She continued, “My card is expired and I didn’t get a new one. I think she’s fabulous, but she seems cooler than me. Isn’t she too cool to be (America’s sweetheart)?”

While people were quick to label Julia Roberts as one of America’s sweethearts, the actress said she doesn’t care much for these titles. Since the star of Erin Brockovich and Steel Magnolias doesn’t see herself as wholly unique, she believes these kudos are a little silly.

“People should understand that there is nothing tremendously unique about me. I have this tremendously unique job, but we are looking for the same thing, which is to be understood, honored and loved. I hate the pedestal feeling, the fake heralding,” Roberts said.

One person who doesn’t seem affected by all the attention is Jennifer Lawrence. Although she’s won an Academy Award and stars in a hit franchise, the actress seems strangely calm when discussing her career. During her chat with The Associated Press, Lawrence said she isn’t looking for an award-winner when she’s reading scripts.

“I started out in indies and I always imagined myself being in smaller movies for the rest of my career. Then ‘Hunger Games’ came along and I was in a big pickle. I would have done it in a heartbeat if it were an indie, but it was giant! I had to take a few days to think about it,” Jennifer Lawrence recently explained to the AP.

She added, “I don’t really look for something when I sit down to read a script There is not really a lot of thought. It’s a bizarre instinctual and emotional thing that just hits me.”
