Twitch PS4 Streaming Leads To Non-Gaming Bans

Twitch PS4 streaming was recently treated to some racy content from a few over-excited users, and as a result, certain streams were banned. The channels were meant for gaming, and the users clearly didn’t use them as intended.

Apparently, to some gamers the PlayStation Camera is just another webcam, and they allegedly used it to stream racy content, including nudity. Twitch is cracking down on improper use and banning those responsible. The PlayStation Camera being used in conjunction with the Playroom app is meant for gaming and nothing but gaming.

What the Playroom app does is generate a virtual environment that the gamer can interact with for gaming related content. However, a couple apparently used the combination of the app and the PlayStation Camera to perform an on-camera strip show, and it started a trend.

Twitch has taken to Twitter and attempted to remind gamers, “FYI: We continue to moderate according to our Terms of Service. Non-gaming content is not allowed. Non-gaming content (c): If using PS4 Playroom, the content must be about games or gaming and within our ToS. Thanks for understanding.”

Twitch PS4 streaming is going to be more heavily regulated now, so no more shenanigans will be tolerated.

The company sent the following statement to Kotaku:

“As Twitch continues to attract new broadcasters, we want to keep our terms of service top of mind and reiterate we are a destination for video game-related content. We also have a team, supported by a predominantly positive minded community, that works around the clock to ensure our TOS is being adhered to. It is at the discretion of our partners to determine which Twitch features are integrated into their hardware and software.”
