Zayn Malik is strapped.
The young One Direction star just got a tattoo of a pistol on his ribcage, one that has been described as both controversial and “really quite ugly.”
Malik went to the Shamrock Social Club in Los Angeles, a popular tattoo venue for members of One Direction, and ended up leaving with a sprawling tattoo of a gun on his side.
The tattoo was created by artist Louis Perez, who shared a picture online with the caption: “Made sure my homey was strapped.”
Perez didn’t leave the picture of Zayn Malik up long before deleting it, but not before the image was captured by several blogs and news outlets.
Heat World, a celebrity news blog, posted the picture of Zayn’s tattoo, nothing that it was actually “quite ugly.”
Zayn Malik already has some other body ink, including a picture of the face of his fiance Perrie Edwards.
Zayn confirmed this summer that the two had in fact gotten engaged, saying: “We’re really happy. Yeah, it’s cool.”
Malik added: “I’d fly 10 planes to go home and see her… It’s difficult to see your girlfriend 24/7. When you do get to see her, you really make the most of it. My mum used to say that absence makes the heart grow fonder, and it definitely does.”
The new gun tattoo might be indicative of a tougher lifestyle for the One Direction singer. This week Zayn was accused of striking a fan in the face during a fight.
Zayn was actually trying to hit a photographer who was hounding the group as they made their way through a group of fans, but he missed and accidentally hit a young girl instead.
Zayn Malik is in the United States along with his One Direction bandmates — Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson — to promote their new album, “Midnight Memories.”
