Eloise Mumford Cast To Play Dakota Johnson’s Roommate In Fifty Shades Of Grey

Eloise Mumford is the latest addition to the Fifty Shades of Grey cast, bringing the long-watched casting process close to its conclusion.

Mumford has been cast as Kate Kavanaugh, the bubbly roommate to the shy and innocent Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson). Mumford will also play love interest to Elliot Grey (Luke Grimes), the adopted brother of playboy billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan).

The casting, which was confirmed by Variety, means the cast for Fifty Shades of Grey is nearly complete. Other casting include Victor Rasuk as Anastasia’s friend Jose and Jennifer Ehle as Anastasia’s mother, Carla.

It wasn’t clear if Dakota Johnson played a role in the casting of Eloise Mumford, but it’s producers have given her some input into casting decisions in the past. After lead actor Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the movie, Dakota played an important part in securing Jamie Dornan as his replacement.

Dakota has been a rock amid a turbulent casting process that included a negative fan reaction to Hunnam’s selection and then his sudden departure from the project. Dakota has spoken highly of the film, saying it is equal parts love story and raunchiness.

“I just really understand it. I think it’s an incredible love story and that’s why it’s affected so many people. (Author E.L. James) did a really good job of explaining how that just can happen sometimes and you have this chemical pull to someone. Adding in the sex makes it perfect. Sometimes you feel a little bit naughty and that’s okay.”

She has hinted that the film won’t shy away from these “naughty” scenes.

“They weren’t–and I can’t think of a better word right now–p**** footing around the subject,” the 24-year-old said.

The rumors in Hollywood seem to back up Johnson’s assertion — the film reported might be rated NC-17.
