Richie Incognito wants to put the allegations and hurt feeling behind him and return to the Miami Dolphins, friend and teammate Mike Pouncey says.
Incognito was suspended by the team last month after teammate Jonathan Martin left the team and accused Incognito and others of abusing him and subjecting him to endless bullying. To bolster his case, Martin released transcript of a voicemail in which Incognito called him a "half-ni**er" and threatens to kill him.
Richie Incognito has claimed that he and Martin are friends, and they often spoke to each other in that manner.
Pouncey, who was out last week with an illness, said he watched the game with Incognito. He said that Richie remains upbeat, but wants to get back to football as soon as possible.
"Me and him watched the game together at my house," Pouncey explained after Wednesday's practice. "He's doing really good. He's in good spirits. He wants to get back on this football team and wants to get back and play football. Richie Incognito, the football player, so that's the only thing he knows. He's missing it to death. He'll be alright."
Richie Incognito has filed a grievance against the Miami Dolphins, who suspended him for conduct detrimental to the team. He wants to recoup his lost wages and either return to the team or be released.
The odds of Incognito returning to the Dolphins look increasingly slim. Though he was initially supported by a small group of teammates that included Pouncey, more members of the team are coming forward privately to corroborate Martin's claims.
Another report last week claimed that Richie Incognito would mock a team staff member, making racially insensitive comments and claiming that the man's wife had slept with numerous players on the team.
Jason Cole of the National Football Post reported that Richie Incognito would dress in ethnic garb to mock the staffer's culture. The NFL is reportedly investigating the accusation.
