Jennifer Lawrence received what seemed like a nice gift from Hunger Games co-star Jeffrey Wright when he handed her a Tiffany’s box.
But what she found wasn’t a nice piece of jewelry, but instead a swarm of insects.
“Jeffrey Wright handed me a Tiffany’s box, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, Jeffrey, you don’t have to do that! Tiffany’s?’ ” Lawrence said of the on-set prank. “And I opened it, and there was just a million crickets and they all jumped out all over me and I screamed and cried and it was awful.”
It seemed like the perfect chance for Jennifer Lawrence to retaliate, but instead the actress said she let the incident slide.
“Nah. I’m too tired,” she said. “I’m like, ‘You have days off. I’m busy.’ ”
That wasn’t the only funny moment on the Hunger Games set. Lawrence said she had an injury while fighting with Finnick (Sam Clafin).
“We were in the middle of doing this scene with the monkeys, so we’re all fighting these imaginary monkeys and it’s choreographed and all of sudden I was like, ‘Ahhh!’ It was like something just whipped my butt. Everybody was like, ‘Nothing happened – it was probably just a charlie horse,’ ” Lawrence said.
This week Jennifer Lawrence also made headlines for her new hair change. The actress debuted a new pixie cut, saying she was getting tired of her long locks.
“It grew to an awkward gross length, and I kept putting it back in a bun and I was like ‘I don’t want to do this,’ so I just cut it off,” Lawrence said during a Tumblr Q&A with director Francis Lawrence and Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer.
But Lawrence did let fans know that her Hunger Games character Katniss Everdeen will keep her long-haired look.
“This isn’t how Katniss is going to look in the next movies — I’m wearing a wig for filming,” she said.
Jennifer Lawrence can be seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire which hits theaters on November 22.
