Bruce Campbell On ‘Army Of Darkness 2’ Rumors: It’s Internet Bulls*** [Video]

Oh, Bruce Campbell. When you aren’t getting everyone’s hopes up about Army of Darkness 2, you’re making fun of them for believing the rumors you helped spread.

The star of director Sam Raimi’s beloved Evil Dead flicks recently caused fanboys to squeal in utter delight when he said Army of Darkness 2 is actually moving forward. Although you never can tell when the Campbell is just messing with your head, this time he seemed serious about the sequel. For a little while, anyway.

While attending this year’s Comikaze in Los Angeles, Bruce Campbell spoke to the folks at Shock Till You Drop. According to the former Burn Notice star, Army of Darkness 2 isn’t happening. In fact, the actor calls the whole thing “internet bulls***.”

“There’s no reality whatsoever. These random comments slip out of my mouth or Sam Raimi’s mouth, next thing you know, we’re making a sequel,” Campbell told Erin Darling about the rumors.

So who’s to really to blame for getting the franchise’s legion of dedicated fans excited about the follow-up? All fingers point to Bruce Campbell. During his appearance at the Wizard World Comic-Con in Nashville not too long ago, the actor addressed rumors about the long-awaited follow-up. If all of this is “internet bulls***,” then it’s Campbell’s “internet bulls***.”

“The last one was twenty-two years ago. Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some Deadite to catch his breath. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie,” he told the crowd.

Even if Campbell was joking around with that goofy little description of Ash’s cinematic future, he later dropped the shenanigans and seemingly gave fans a straightforward answer.

“Alright sir, the answer is yes,” Campbell declared.

If these Army of Darkness 2 rumors are nothing more than “internet bulls***,” then perhaps it’s time for Bruce Campbell to stop messing with our heads. Although the guy is probably tired of discussing the matter during every convention and public appearance, getting everyone’s hopes up for no reason just seems mean.

Bruce Campbell also took a moment to discuss the rumors surrounding the sequel to director Fede Alvarez’s Evil Dead remake. Although co-writer Rodo Sayagues said the project isn’t happening Sony, Alvarez was quick to shoot down those rumors.

However, Campbell told Shock Till You Drop that Alvarez and Sayagues recently moved on to another project. Is he just playing with our minds or is Campbell really telling the truth? It’s kind of hard to figure the guy out these days. Even if Alvarez isn’t involved, chances are Sony Pictures won’t let this cash cow die just yet.

Are you a fan of Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell? Do you think the guy is partially to blame for spreading rumors about the possibility of an Army of Darkness sequel?
