Twitter Queen Katy Perry Is The People’s Choice Darling, Hazard To Australia

Katy Perry has got so much going on, fans might get whiplash just trying to keep up.

For starters, Katy Perry can start getting fitted for a social media crown, as she was anointed the official Queen of Twitter the other day. Katy took the honors from Justin Bieber, who had wrested the throne away from Lady Gaga earlier this year. There’s some more for the Katy Perry/Lady Gaga false feud rumor mill. Of course, former-king Biebs doesn’t need to worry about losing that crown, he can just build a new kingdom! That’s right, Bieber is the lead investor in Shots of Me, a social media app that will launch later this week. Take that, Katy Perry! He’ll start his own social media empire, with blackjack and hookers!

Ahem. In other Katy Perry news, she is tied with Sandra Bullock with five People’s Choice Awards nominations, including for favorite female artist, favorite pop artist, favorite song, favorite music video and favorite music fan following. Bullock rang in with noms for favorite actress, twice for movie duo (Melissa McCarthy and George Clooney), and for comedic and dramatic actress. The two were beat out by Glee, which nabbed eight nominations. You could say Perry roared to the front of the pack. Katy is the cat’s meow? Katy Perry let the People’s Choice cat out of the bag?

Moving on, Katy’s album, Prism, has been declared a biohazard in Australia. Apparently the deluxe version of the album, which is produced outside of the country and imported, contains a packet seeds for fans to plant in order to “spread the light.” Well instead, it’s spreading the alarm, in conflict with import laws dealing with foreign plant life.

“Seeds or plant material of international origin may be a weed not present in Australia or the host of a plant pathogen of biosecurity concern,” an Australian Department of Agriculture spokesperson said via News.com.Au.

The Australian release of Perry’s album is said to contain local Swan River daisy seeds, which are considered harmless. Katy Perry wasn’t content with creeping everyone out by keeping celebrity hair in her purse, she had to up the ante and scare a government.

What do you think of Katy Perry’s latest album? Do you follow Katy on social media? Would you vote for Katy in the People’s Choice awards?
