Michael Douglas And Catherine Zeta-Jones Reunite For Halloween, Try To Repair Marriage

Michael Douglas wasn’t apart from Catherine Zeta-Jones for long.

The couple split up in August, and though it was rumored they would divorce neither actually filed papers. Now, more than two months later it seems that Douglas and Zeta-Jones are back together and trying to mend their 13-year marriage.

It was reported that Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones decided to split after Douglas returned from the Cannes Film Festival earlier in the year. Speculation rose about the fragile state of their relationship when Douglas was later spotted playing golf in Italy while Zeta-Jones remained in New York by herself.

“Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage,” a representative for the couple said at the time.

Sources said the couple bucked under the stress of several setbacks, including Michael’s cancer, Catherine’s battle with bipolar disorder, and the arrest of Michael’s oldest son on drug charges.

On Friday’s episode of Live With Kelly and Michael, Douglas revealed that he and Catherine reunited on Halloween to go trick-or-treating with their kids, Dylan and Carys. Catherine even joined in and dressed up like Snow White.

It was the latest sign that Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are trying to get back together. Michael has made many public statements that seemed optimistic, telling E! News that things are looking “onwards and upwards” in the relationship.

“I’ve been away for a while, but everything should hopefully be on the up and up,” Michael said on a Tonight Show appearance last month. “Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the end. I’m very hopeful.”

The reunion could be mean more for Michael Douglas than just fixing a broken relationship. The divorce would have reportedly entailed $300 million of asset between the couple, including several high-priced homes.
