Justin Bieber Beats Miley Cyrus To Represent North America As Worldwide Act Nominee At 2013 MTV EMAs

Justin Bieber has beaten Miley Cyrus to represent North America for the Best Worldwide Act at the upcoming 2013 MTV European Music Awards in November.

In total, 186 global musical acts fought for six weeks of first round voting, which reduced to 37 acts across all regions earlier this month. Voting for the final 10 nominees ended Oct. 31 with “Smilers” and “Beliebers” stepping up to deliver a victory for their respective icons.

Bieber won the day for North America and now goes head to head with nine regional nominees in the Worldwide Act category at the EMAs in Amsterdam on Nov 10.

The “All That Matters” star will face off with boy band One Direction, who inevitably cleaned up the North Europe vote, 16-year-old Cody Simpson who won in the Australia/New Zealand nominations.

The seven other nominees are drawn from Europe Central, South, and East, Japan/Korea, Latin America, Africa/India/Middle East, and Mainland China/Hong Kong/Southeast Asia/Taiwan.

Fans can now vote for the favorite Worldwide Act up until Nov. 8 here.

Bieber is also nominated for Best Pop, Best Male, and Biggest Fans and fans can register support here.

For Cyrus fans keen to push their girl through in Best Pop, Best Female and Best Video categories, votes can be cast here.

This year’s MTV EMAs will be hosted by Redfoo. Confirmed live acts include Robin Thicke, Bruno Mars, The Killers, Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, Snoop Lion, Icona Pop, Cyrus, Afrojack and Imagine Dragons.

Meanwhile, Bieber recently received support from unlikely quarters in the shape of Metallica after the singer (who is a fan) covered their 1984 classic “Fade to Black.”

The heartthrob is currently on the Latin America leg of his Believe tour and played Quito, Ecuador last night (Oct. 31), later taking to Twitter to comment, “great show. rain couldnt stop us. BRAZIL is next! #BelieveTour.”

From there, the tour hits Paraguay, Argentina, Chile and Mexico, before the final Australasia leg.

The 15-month trek wraps in Perth on December 8.
