Ellie Kemper To Star In New Tina Fey Comedy

Ellie Kemper is making the jump from Erin on The Office to a new Tina Fey comedy on NBC. Also teaming up with Fey for the project is 30 Rock partner Robert Carlock.

Given the success of 30 Rock NBC has already ordered 13 episodes of the comedy which has yet to be given an official title.

In the series Ellie Kempter plays a woman who escapes a doomsday cult and then moves to New York City to start her life over.

In an email to the St. Louis Dispatch Kemper said, “I keep pinching myself; is this a Halloween trick? The idea of working with Tina Fey and Robert Carlock is too good to be true.”

Along with her role on The Office Kemper also appeared in the hit movie “Bridesmaids” and played Heather on “The Mindy Project.”

Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, NBC Entertainment, says of the networks decision:

“Tina and Robert, who cemented their partnership on 30 Rock, have created a new signature comedy for us that is audacious, emotional, and clever. While tapping into very relatable themes, there isn’t anything like this anywhere else on television. NBC has been their home for many years and we’re so happy that they’ve found another way to push the comedy envelope for us.”
