It has been confirmed that silver screen legend Elizabeth Taylor has passed away. She was 79.
Update: Taylor died in the early morning hours at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, and her children were present. She’d been hospitalized for congestive heart failure for six weeks, but her condition improved and she was expected to be released from the hospital in stable condition.
A rep for Taylor made the following statement to press:
“She was surrounded by her children- Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd, and Maria Burton,” Taylor’s publicist, Sally Morrison, said in a statement.
Taylor, a two-time Oscar winner, had suffered several ailments in recent years, including ongoing heart problems. In her last interview, she spoke with reality show star Kim Kardashian, saying:
“I never planned to acquire a lot of jewels or a lot of husbands,” Taylor said. “I have been supremely lucky in my life in that I have known great love, and of course, I am the temporary custodian of some incredible and beautiful things.”
