Although fans are clearly interested in a new Hulk movie, the folks at Marvel Studios aren’t moving forward with a new motion picture just yet.
The big green superhero’s previous cinematic offerings weren’t exactly popular with fans of the classic comic books. To make matters worse, neither movie really set the box office on fire the way other Marvel movies have in the past. Not surprisingly, the studio is a little hesitant about putting another film together.
According to Worst Previews, Marvel’s Kevin Feige recently discussed the Hulk and his upcoming big-screen adventures while promoting director Alan Taylor’s sequel Thor: The Dark World. When asked about Bruce Banner’s future, Feige said they’re more concerned with The Avengers: Age of Ultron than another Hulk flick at the moment.
“We have been discussing after ‘Avengers’ what [a Hulk movie] would look like. We wanted people to come out of ‘Avengers’ saying the Hulk was their favorite character or at least one of their favorite. The fact that it happened was awesome,” Feige explained.
“All of the effort related to the Hulk right know is going to ‘Age of Ultron.’ It’s exciting, because he hasn’t been in any other film, so you can expect to have a lot of Bruce Banner and Hulk in ‘Age of Ultron.’ Where we go after that? We’ll see. It will be a little while before we figure that out, but we do think there’s plenty of opportunities with Ruffalo’ Banner.”
The Inquisitr previously reported that Kevin Feige also discussed the future of Thor in the Marvel cinematic universe. Although fans are hoping the character and his arch-enemy Loki will thrill audiences for many years to come, Feige admitted that the studio is waiting to see how the new movie does in theaters before making any decisions.
When asked when the character might return, Feige explained:
“Yeah, I don’t think it would be before ‘Thor 3′ if there is a ‘Thor 3′ and while we certainly have ideas of where we would like that to go, there are no specifics. We have to see how this one does and then go from there.”
If you’re a fan of Bruce Banner and his rage-induced alter-ego, then you might have to wait a while before the character gets his own standalone movie. However, fans can catch the big green guy next in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers 2 in 2015.
Are you a fan of the Hulk? Do you think the character will get another solo movie?
