Derek Hough Injury: Dance Pro May Miss DWTS Due To Back Injury
Derek Hough may not be dancing tonight on Dancing With The Stars.
The dance pro, who is dancing this season with Glee’s Amber Riley, is fighting through a back injury. Hough injured his back during season 15 when he was dancing with Shawn Johnson and re-injured himself this week while working with Amber.
Hough said that he was determined to dance tonight on ABC but the pro may be too injured to shake his stuff.
A source told US Magazine: “[Hough’s] back is severely injured – he had a pre-existing injury… He hurt his back dancing with Shawn Johnson, and he re-injured it dancing with Amber. He is determined to push through but not sure he’ll be able to.”
USA Today reports that Riley will dance with Henry Byalikov if Hough can’t perform tonight.
In a TV Guide blog post last Friday, Hough said that he was feeling under the weather.
Hough wrote: “I’ve been feeling under the weather and my back’s been acting up the past week. I think it’s just wear and tear. It’s just that part of the season when it all starts to catch up to you and the show is getting tougher with multiple dances.”
The dancer also sent a photo out on Twitter showing himself getting some injections at the doctor’s office.
Hough writes: “This is happening…”
Amber Riley didn’t seem too distraught about losing her partner. The actor wrote on Twitter a few hours ago that she was researching with Team Foxing Awesome…. No word on if Derek Hough was part of the rehearsal.
