Martha Plimpton’s Father To Appear On ‘Raising Hope’

Martha Plimpton and her father Keith Carradine are slated to appear together on an upcoming episode of the hit Fox sitcom Raising Hope.

The actress’ dad will portray singing cowboy Colt Palamino during the fourth season of the television series. The character runs a dude ranch visited by Martha Plimpton and her on-screen husband Garret Dillahunt.

According to UPI, Carradine and Dillahunt appeared together in the HBO western Deadwood. Plimpton said their encounter on Raising Hope will end a little differently than it did on the acclaimed cable series.

“It’ll be good to see him. And I’m hoping there’s no leftover hard feelings over his fake brutal murder by my fake husband!” Martha Plimpton explained.

TVLine reports that Raising Hope is currently slated to return to Fox on November 15. The network will kick things off with no less than two back-to-back episodes. If you’ve been craving more adventures from the wacky family, then you should start making room in your busy schedule right now.

Created by Gregory Thomas Garcia, the series follows the misadventures of supermarket employee Jimmy (Lucas Neff) after he becomes a single father. Garret Dillahunt and Martha Plimpton play Neff’s parents on the show. The series also stars Shannon Woodward and Cloris Leachman.

When asked if the show exploits blue-collar families, Martha Plimpton told The Backlot that she doesn’t think the show makes fun of anyone. In her opinion, a lot of Americans can relate to the situations her on-screen family find themselves in every week.

“I don’t feel the least bit of guilt playing funny people on television. I think we are, like the characters on our show, in situations that a lot of Americans can relate to, that a lot of Americans like laughing about and could probably use a laugh about,” she told the website.

Plimpton continued, “I don’t think we’re making fun of people on our show. We learn a lot of the stuff that happens on our show because it’s not done out of cruelty. You know what I mean? There is nothing cynical about it. So I don’t have that issue, no.”

If you’re a little behind on Raising Hope or simply need a refresher course, the sitcom is currently available on Netflix streaming. In this writer’s opinion, the comedy is extremely smart and utterly hilarious. In other words, it’s definitely worth a shot.
