Kinect hits 10 million sales

For heaven’s sake, people, don’t encourage them.

Microsoft has announced that Kinect has sold 10 million units since launching last November. That means one in five Xbox 360 owners have bought Kinect, a figure that has put the device in the Guinness Book of World Records.

According to the record book publisher, the peripheral is the fastest-selling consumer electronics device ever. An average of 133,333 units have been sold per day in its first 60 days on sale (November 4th, 2010 to January 3rd, 2011).

To confirm, then: the future of gaming really is standing in front of your TV while you flail and flap like a berk to steer an on-screen dinghy. That’s great. JUST GREAT.
