‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ Drops New Images, Poster [Photos]

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will finally get a teaser trailer on Thursday. To keep everyone happy until then, the folks at Marvel and Disney unleashed some new images.

Included among the new promotional material are two photos featuring the iconic superhero and a poster. You can check out all of these cinematic goodies in the gallery below.

The sequel finds Chris Evans reprising his role as Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America. During his next big-screen adventure, our hero teams up with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) to battle a foe known as The Winter Soldier. Hence the title Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Here’s how Marvel is officially describing the follow-up:

“After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier finds Steve Rogers — also known as Captain America — living quietly in Washington, DC, and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk.”

The summary continues:

“Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy — the Winter Soldier.”

Captain America: The Winter Soldier star Chris Evans said he felt an enormous amount of pressure to deliver a top-notch sequel following the success of director Joss Whedon’s acclaimed box office hit The Avengers. According to the actor, carrying the flick on his shoulders caused him a great deal of stress.

“The fact that The Avengers did so well… you have an obligation. There is a serious obligation to fans who are expecting a great movie. A lot of that starts with making sure that you are physically ready to play the role and look the role. So a lot of that is in my head. Come January that is my life,” he told Collider last May.

Evans added that Captain America: The Winter Soldier will focus on the superhero’s personal struggle with living in the modern world.

“There is a lot of things that he kind of has to come to terms with. So I don’t know. I am excited to kind of see flashes of the first Captain, if you know what I mean, and to see his memory of what we now know as an audience of who he was,” Evans explained.
