Charlie Hunnam Opens Up About ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Exit

Did Charlie Hunnam back out of his role in Fifty Shades Of Grey because he realized it would kill his career? Did he finally read the book and decide that there was no way he’d take part in the 50 Shades movie? The Sons Of Actor opened up about his departure for the first time this week and it turns out that his exit has nothing to do with the source material.

Well, that’s what he says anyways.

Hunnam said that he decided to leave the cast of Fifty Shades Of Grey because he has a “lot of family stuff to attend to.”

The actor said that he is currently busy filming the sixth season of Sons Of Anarchy and will soon be working on a new movie with Guillermo Del Toro. On top of that, he wants to return to England to see his family. That means that Hunnam just doesn’t have time to film 50 Shades Of Grey.

During a charity event for Sons Of Anarchy, Hunnam said:

“I have had some family stuff going on so just trying to stay focused and stay positive and keep trying to do a good job at work and be with my family and stay positive. Like I said, I’ve got some family stuff I have to tend to. So when I wrap the show, I am going to go to England and see my people and then I have a film that I am doing with Guillermo [del Toro]. So I am going to go and do that and concentrate on the final seasons of Sons.”

It’s unclear what “family stuff” Hunnam has to attend to but E! Online speculates that it may have something to do with Hunnam’s father passing away earlier this year. The actor spends a lot of time in the states and may just want to take a few months off to hang out with his family.

Do you think Charlie Hunnam made the right decision to leave Fifty Shades Of Grey? Who do you think should take his place?

The Fifty Shades Of Grey cast has been touted as the most highly sought out gig in Hollywood. Of course, it doesn’t seem like anyone really wants the job. Do you think the 50 Shades movie is going to be any good?
