Keanu Reeves took to reddit to promote his latest film, Man of Tai Chi, Sunday. Normally one to eschew social media, Reeves braved a visit to the self-described “front page of the Internet,” where he is alternately beloved and despised, for on of the site’s crowdsourced Q&As.
“Hi reddit. Keanu Reeves here. You probably know me from way back in the past, River’s Edge, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Point Break, SPEED, The Devil’s Advocate, The Matrix Trilogy, A Scanner Darkly, My Own Private Idaho, and others, plus my latest film Man of Tai Chi,” Keanu Reeves said.
“Ask me, if you want, almost anything.”
“My first experience with that was Sad Keanu, and I thought it was funny!” Reeves said.
Given his propensity for martial arts flicks, one user asked Keanu his favorite form:
“You know, I love all martial arts. I don’t practice any particular form or style, but yeah, I don’t have a favorite,” Keanu said.
Keanu also admitted he doesn’t actually practice any martial arts but said he would be considered an adept at “movie kung fu.”
On his resume of characters named different variants of John (Johnny Utah, John Constantine, Johnny Mnemonic, Jonathan Harker, Don John, John Proctor, John Wall and John Wick):
“You know, I was thinking that just the other day… as I was going to set for John Wick. I was actually counting them as well. I think there’s something, for some reason, the name John is attractive to storytellers to hang their characters on,” Reeves replied.
“It seems to embue or resonate with a strong, open quality,” Keanu Reeves added [sic].
Keanu Reeves reflecting on Sad Keanu might have offered the most zen takeaway of the day.
“You know, it’s always great to sit and have a great sandwich. Life is good when you have a good sandwich,” Reeves said.
