Not long ago, the Los Angeles Lakers pulled out of trade offers because they refused to include Talen Horton-Tucker in any trade package. They were pretty high on him and thought he'd break out as a scoring threat off the bench.

Needless to say, that hasn't been the case thus far, and it seems like they could try and find him a new home, even if some around the league believe his trade value has officially tanked.

He Could Be Out Of The Rotation

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic and Larry Brown Sports, new coach Darvin Ham has seldom mentioned Horton-Tucker, and it seems like he doesn't plan to include him in the rotation at all:

"Jovan Buha of The Athletic said this week on the “Lakers Nation Podcast” that swingman Talen-Horton Tucker could potentially be outside the Los Angeles Lakers’ rotation in the 2022-23 campaign. Buha notes that Ham, the team’s new head coach, has “rarely” mentioned Horton-Tucker or any role Horton-Tucker might have next year," the repot added.

Ham has repeatedly stated that he's not afraid to make the changes he thinks the team needs to thrive again, so it wouldn't be shocking to see him take the young guard out of the rotation to make that point clear:

"Ham, who will be entering his first year as an NBA head coach, has already shown that he is not afraid to make tough decisions, no matter the player," added the report. "Booting Horton-Tucker from the rotation next season could continue on that trend."

Lakers Were High On Him

THT was once considered a potential blossoming star and is even represented by Klutch Sports. Now, it seems like his future will be better off somewhere else:

"That is a fairly surprising development since it wasn’t long ago that Horton-Tucker was being hyped up as the Lakers’ next great young player. Still only 21, Horton-Tucker is also represented by Klutch Sports, the same agency that represents LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and many other Lakers," the report added.

He Failed To Deliver

To be fair, the Lakers did give him plenty of chances to prove his worth. LeBron James and Anthony Davis both missed time, and he failed to make the most of the opportunities and playing time.

THT regressed after showing a lot of promise early in his career, but he's still young and may only need a change of scenery to be at his best again.
