Behind every successful fitness journey, there’s a trainer barking orders, and it’s no different with Jennifer Aniston. A physical fitness icon at 53, the Friends alum works really hard to stay in tip-top shape but she also has her personal trainer, Leyon Azubuike, to thank for that incredible physique.

In an interview with Women’s Health, the coach and co-owner of Gloveworx revealed what it takes to achieve his famous client’s fit figure. He said he’s very hands-on when it comes to tailoring a routine that perfectly matches the actress’s needs. Read the details below.

Customized Fitness Programs

Aniston may look like she lives and breathes workouts but we all know she has a busy life outside the gym as well. That is why Azubuike creates different fitness programs for her – including weekly, monthly, and yearly – so they can easily switch it up depending on her schedule.

“Where we are in a cycle dictates the duration and intensity of Jen’s workout,” he said. “If I know Jen isn’t filming anything, it’s a different phase than if I know she’s going to be walking up to receive an award—I’m not going to destroy her legs in the gym the day before.”

Intense Workout Schedule

The Morning Show star’s regimen ranges from three days a week to seven, and from 45 minutes to an hour and a half each session. But whether it’s the former or the latter, it’s always intense!

“She has to respond when I say go,” Azubuike said. “If she has a shoot at 3 a.m. and we need to work out before that, let’s go...we respect each other in that regard, so it’s a constant back and forth with mutual respect and understanding."

Aniston's Go-To Exercises

As for the kinds of exercises they do, the trainer said, “We box, we jump rope, we do strength training, we do a lot of work with resistance bands—we’re big on resistance bands. We rotate these things so it’s always hard, she’s consistently being challenged—I’m a big fan of switching things up, so the body reacts in a positive way and changes.”

Core Moves

Azubuike also revealed that Aniston loves core exercises, which isn’t surprising when you see just how hard those abs are! Their core moves include the standard plank, side plank, plank with shoulder taps, and V-ups. “She can hold a two- or three-minute plank rather easily,” the trainer shared.

It’s obvious Aniston and Azubuike are a match made in fitness heaven. As the trainer said, “Here’s a woman who has always looked amazing, and I'm tasked with keeping it that way and elevating that even further.”
