Ashley Moss: Richard Sherman’s Pregnant Girlfriend Could Have A Bigger Impact On The Super Bowl Than Any Player

Ashley Moss won’t put on a helmet or take the field on Super Bowl Sunday, but the very pregnant girlfriend of Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman might just have the single biggest impact on the game.

Moss is pregnant with the couple’s first child and is due any day, and Sherman has said he’s not sure what he would do if she goes into labor on Super Bowl Sunday.

Moss — who went to the Super Bowl last year with Richard Sherman — said this trip and the attention they’ve gotten for the pregnancy has been surreal.

“We didn’t expect it to be such a national story,” she said in an interview with King5.

But the pregnancy is more than just a human interest story. Sherman has hinted that he might skip the game if Ashley goes into labor that day, and coach Pete Carroll said he will respect whatever decision his Pro Bowl cornerback makes.

“Well, that’s up to Richard,” Carroll said during a joint media conference with Patriots coach Bill Belichick. “He knows that he has an opportunity to face a great decision. Whenever our players have a personal family issue that comes up, it’s always about the family first and they have to decide what’s best for them, and I support that.”

If it were up to Moss, Richard Sherman wouldn’t miss a minute of the game. Moss originally said she wouldn’t even tell him if she went into labor during the game, but Sherman insisted, saying, “You better call.”

Moss implied that she still may win out, hinting that if she does go into labor that Sherman will stay at least until the game ends.

“I guess we’ll have a Super Bowl baby and if you see Richard heading for the locker room right after it hits zero in the fourth quarter, don’t be surprised,” she said.

Moss was also confident that the little boy would help them out.

“He’ll hold out. Like Richard says, he’ll do him his first favor and stay in there until at least after the game,” said Moss.

Richard Sherman and Ashley Moss — and the millions of Seattle Seahawks fans watching the game — do have the odds on their side. The baby boy isn’t due until February 12, nine days after the Super Bowl.
