‘GTA V’ PC Pre-Order Bonuses Will Differ Depending On Retailer, Rockstar Games Shares Details

Earlier this month, Rockstar Games revealed that anyone who pre-ordered the upcoming PC version of Grand Theft Auto V directly from the developer will receive in-game cash to spend in Los Santos when the open-world crime title finally launches on PC in March. Furthermore, it was announced those who digitally pre-purchased GTA V on PC from the Rockstar Warehouse will also receive a free bonus game download for a limited time.

As the March 24 release date for the PC version of GTA V gets closer, Rockstar Games has added additional information to their original pre-order bonus announcement this past Wednesday to inform gamers that GTA V is also now available to order from several other retail outlets including Steam and Amazon.

Regardless of where the game is purchased, all GTA V pre-orders will give players access to $1 million to freely spend within the game’s single player story mode as well as an additional $500 for use within GTA V‘s new online multiplayer mode. However, many have been confused about the free digital game for those who buy GTA V on PC before February 1.

In an attempt to offer full clarity on the bonus offer, the developer fully explained that the free download is only valid to those who pre-order the PC version of GTA V directly from Rockstar Games before the end of the month. Purchases of a physical version of the game do not apply, even if ordered from the Rockstar Warehouse. Other popular retailers may have their own bonus offers, but also will not allow access to the free game download offer.

While Grand Theft Auto V doesn’t actually release on PC until March, those who currently own a copy of GTA V on any console system can continue to play their online character in preparation for the PC launch. Similar to the system that allowed fans to bring their GTA Online progress from last-gen consoles to the recently released Xbox One and Playstation 4 editions of the game, Rockstar Games has already confirmed that fans will also be allowed to move their console accounts over for use with the game’s upcoming PC version. A report by the Inquisitr shared details on how the transfers will work through the Rockstar Social Club.

If you plan on pre-ordering GTA V on PC, do you intend to purchase the game from the Rockstar Warehouse before Sunday in order to take advantage of the free game download?
