State Of Emergency, Travel Bans Issued For New York, New Jersey, Connecticut And Massachusetts Due To Blizzard As #BlizzardOf2015, #StateOfEmergency Trend On Twitter


Governor Chris Christie isn’t taking any chances with the #BlizzardOf2015, and has declared a state of emergency, according to NJ.com. The site reports that Christie is urging folks to stay home during the state of emergency for residents of New Jersey. But New Jersey isn’t the only state under a state of emergency. Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy has also issued a state of emergency, which should hit the state heavily Monday and continue through Tuesday, reports WTNH.

According to the Hartford Courant, a travel ban for Connecticut, as well as the state of emergency is underway, with the statewide ban on travel upon state highways beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, and lasting as long as necessary to allow emergency vehicles, public transportation and snowplows to perform their jobs safely.

Not to be outdone, Governor Charlie Baker also declared a state of emergency for Massachusetts as well as a travel ban, reports WCVB. Governor Andrew Cuomo also declared a state of emergency for Rockland, Westchester and Putnam counties and New York City metropolitan area — and Cuomo says he is thinking about imposing an additional travel ban on all main roads starting at approximately 11 p.m., but Cuomo will make his final decision about the travel ban by 4:30 p.m. or so on Monday, reports NBC News. Fox News states that New York City Mayor de Blasio has ordered all non-emergency vehicles off the roads by 11 p.m.

Meanwhile, hashtags like #StateOfEmergency and #BlizzardOf2015 are trending hard on Twitter, proving that even though certain sections of New England have yet to see any fresh falling snow, the governors of those states aren’t taking any chances with this impending blizzard.

According to the Inquisitr, the massive 2015 blizzard should begin falling in portions of the northeast part of the country as early as Monday afternoon, so readers in that region are urged to begin making preparations for a record snowfall. That includes making sure there’s enough food at home, that phones are fully charged, and that all of the state of emergency declarations and travel bans are adhered to as noted above.
