Naomi Price is going to be spending less time bargain-hunting with the Priceline Negotiator, and more time looking for a new partner. After a good run, William Shatner’s character, (the eponymous Negotiator) is being killed off.

The 80-year-old actor’s character will go out in a blaze of glory in a TV spot finale set to debut next week. In it, he rescues tourists from a bus about to plunge off the side of a bridge.

“I’m in grief mode,” Shatner said. “It’s not the first time I’ve had an iconic character die off.”

Shatner has been with Priceline for 14 years, and has spent 5 of those years portraying the Negotiator. Priceline is best known for offering customers discounts based on bidding, but the company also offers a set discount-price booking for over 200,000 hotels in 140 countries, and wants to focus on advertising this service as it changes direction for the future.

Peter Sealey, adjunct professor at the Claremont Graduate University’s school of management, had this to say:

“It’s a tough decision, but the bottom line is Priceline had to do it, [...] They’re changing their business model from a name-your-price model to a fixed-price approach… Had he been less effective, he could have been allowed to fade away. I don’t know if I would have gone as far as the bus exploding.”

“It was a great run,” said Shatner of his Priceline gig, “If the management says this is the end, this is the end.”

Priceline is hoping to avoid some backlash for killing off Shatner’s iconic character. Christopher Soder, CEO of Priceline.com North America said this:

“We certainly hope not. We had a great, long association with Mr. Shatner, [...] I didn’t mean to use the past tense. He’s still under contract with us.”

What’s next for Shatner? The Emmy Award-Winning actor is set to debut his one-man show “Shatner’s World: We Just Live in It” on Broadway next month.

Can you believe William Shatner is already 80 years old?

The octogenarian actor hasn’t really slowed down all that much in his old age, and even has a book and memoir set to drop imminently. Shatner will be sitting down tonight with Nightline to discuss his ventures new and old, reminiscing about the past and present and dishing dirt on a variety of things that occurred during the course of his career.

One of the topics Shatner will discuss is his strange and seemingly contentious relationship with fellow Star Trek co-star George Takei. After Shatner was dissed by Takei at a Comedy Central roast, he says he attempted to reach out to his former co-worker only to be rebuffed. Of the broken relationship, Shatner sadly laments:

“I don’t know what is his problem. I keep saying to him, Hey, you’re getting old. Do you want to die in enmity? And I’m not getting anywhere, so I’ve sort of given up.”

Shatner also discusses his favorite pastime outside of work- horses. From atop a horse, he discusses the allure of the his hobby:

“One of the requirements of reining is you do a rapid maneuver and then you stay very still… Theoretically, it’s dramatic,” he said. “Did you receive that information? Hang on a second. Here. Comes. Another.”

But Shatner isn’t poking fun at himself too thoroughly, and contends his serious demeanor comes from a good place:

“I am passionately devoted to whatever it is we’re talking about or whatever it is I’m doing… If it’s on a child and charity, if it’s on an animal, it’s valid and good and beautiful. If it’s on a cartoon, if it’s on a foolish man that I’m playing and I have the equal attention and devotion to it, it’s funny.”

In a startling turn of events, William Shatner, the man who made his name playing Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek, prefers Star Trek to Star Wars.

In a video (below) released last week by the actor, he dismisses the Star Wars movies as “special effects, ILM [Lucasfilm visual effects company Industrial Light & Magic] at its best.” He went on to call Star Wars “derivative” of Star Trek, which he argued dealt with human principles and philosophical questions.

In a slightly less serious part of his argument, Shatner also claimed Star Trek had prettier actresses. He did admit, however, that he’d have run off with Princess Leia, a sentiment every red-blooded male born in the last century would agree with.

From 1966, Shatner played Kirk in the Star Trek TV series, the animated series, and numerous films, returning to act in the franchise again and again before the character’s death in 1994′s Star Trek Generations. His loyalties are perhaps understandable.

Personally, I’m going to sit on the fence for this one, because (a) fanboys and fangirls scare me and (b) I feel pretty lukewarm about both franchises. I know, I know, as an ’80s child (just) I’m supposed to say Star Wars made me the person I am today, but I was always indifferent. But hey, which do you prefer, dear reader?

Reese Witherspoon was showing off her smoking hot bikini body in Hawaii this week and along with that body she was sporting a new tattoo on the lower left side of her stomach.

The 35-year old Oscar winner was sporting some toned abs and her new tattoo was hovering just below her bellybutton.

The Water For Elephants star’s tattoo is a star which is complimented by what appears to be two small birds.

The tattoo was first revealed by Witherspoon on July 4th, at that time fans of the actress debated whether or not it was a permanent tattoo or something less permanent for an upcoming role.

In terms of what the new Reese Witherspoon tattoo means, your guess is as good as ours, she’s being fairly tight lipped about her new ink.

Poor William Shatner, even his own fans can’t tell he’s the real Shatner at least that’s what happened on Tuesday when Google suspended his Google+ account after dozens of fans marked his account as “spam.”

The Star Trek star took to Twitter to say:

“My Google+ account was flagged for violating standards. Saying hello to everyone apparently is against the rules maybe I should say goodbye?”

Quickly after his account was taken down and the Tweet was sent Google reinstated his account.

It looks like it’s already time for Google+ to implement some type of verified account system such as the one found on Twitter accounts which are often occupied by celebrities, politicians and other influencers.

80′s television series T.J.Hooker is to be remade as a Hollywood action/ comedy movie.

David Foster, Ryan Heppe and series creator Rick Husky producing, and Chuck Russell (“The Scorpion King,” “The Mask”) is in talks to direct, according to Variety. Foster and Heppe have previously produced such gems as Wild Wild West and the Tremor pics.

T.J. Hooker was a Aaron Spelling series starting William Shatner that have a five year television run from 1982. Other starts on the show included Adrian Zmed, Heather Locklear, Richard Herd and James Darren.

Given the success of Star Trek (which also starred William Shatner) maybe it might turn out ok…or maybe not. Here’s betting it’s as bad as the Starsky and Hutch remake.
