One of the benefits, or downsides of running a blog that covers tech is the incessant pitch of 2.0 companies. You may like to accuse me of many things, but PR and Marketing was my pre-blog background, and I spent more years than I care to remember writing press releases and spinning crap.

Although there are many stories we don’t run; not all because they are bad, sometimes it was because of a combination of everyone else had it first, or I didn’t read it quickly enough. Then there’s this gem. I’m not going to link out in the release when I run it in full, but what I’ll note is that their site hardly has any Australian content on it.

Enjoy:

Unlike general Classifieds Sites, users do not have to search from within the site. Free Ads Australia portal uses Web 2.0 features and therefore it has many advantages to the users. Ads and Classifieds, added to Free Ads Australia can be searched from popular search engines, such as google, msn, yahoo, and in this
way, giving the Free Ads Australia and Free Classifieds Australia more exposure to a worldwide audience.

The system is very quick, simple to use and the design is modern. The latest advertising pictures are shown on the home page and users can see the new free ad titles and each new category that the users may create.

The portal has partnered with Luxembourg e-commerce site, Wikio to facilitate access and distribution of the content, including its free ads, classifieds, news releases and more and also implemented an up to date Twitter feed. Users can also add a Skype name to the Free Ads, which makes selling or buying products online much easier for the buyer and or seller. The wiki style site has eliminated the long registration forms, and so has made a simple but very effective end-user solution.

The World Wide Web in 2009 is about giving the community more choice and more information. The Free Ads Australia’s Wiki style portal allows for more choice and more freedom of information. Anyone can publish free ads, and more – and all of it for free and because of its smart Web 2.0 Wiki programming, the users control the ad settings. When people search for information, its relevance is much higher in the search engines’ results.

Fail.
