Thousand Oaks, CA (AHN) – A 65-year-old man’s pinky was bitten off by another man during an altercation at vigils of pro- and anti-healthcare reforms in Ventura County, California Wednesday night.

Witnesses told police that the two men were from opposing groups of demonstrators. The older man hit the other man, who retaliated by biting off his pinky.

The injured man, with his bitten off finger, walked to the Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center for treatment. His attacker fled the scene and remains at large.

The pro-healthcare reform candlelight vigil participated in by 150 people was organized by MoveOn.org, a non-profit advocacy group, to bring attention to those without healthcare,.

A 16 year old boy in the African country of Zambia has committed suicide after seeing his sister-in-law naked.

The demise of Fredrick Shinjoma started when (and we’re not making this up) a chicken belonging to Shinjoma’s brother laid an egg in his house. Fredrick, keen to give the egg to his brother, took it to his brothers house late one evening, where the sister-in-law greeted him while not wearing any clothes.

But it gets weirder yet: Fredrick, who according to local media was shocked by seeing his sister-in-law naked, told his brother the next day. The brother wasn’t happy, then reprimanded his wife. She then decided that she’d commit suicide, and was in the process of hanging herself when “apprehended” and stopped by local villagers.

After hearing the news of his sister-in-laws attempted suicide, Fredrick became deeply upset and despite having done nothing wrong, hung himself out of some sense of shame.

Abington, PA (AHN) – Two homes in Abington, Pennsylvania have been burglarized by a naked man who stole a woman’s clothes after exposing himself to her.

The man was caught on a surveillance camera breaking into an apartment at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. He was wearing a dark colored shorts and a white sleeveless tank top t-shirt when he entered the building but came out naked.

He fled and burglarized another home nearby.

A woman who saw the burglar enter the apartment called police. The suspect is now being hunted. He is described to be in his 30s or 40s, stands 5-8 to 5-10 tall, is thin to medium built and has a dark hair with a thinning top.

St. Petersburg, FL (AHN) – A St. Petersburg man got firemen to clean his bathroom Thursday morning after he mixed cleaners that unintentionally produced a deadly gas.

Michael Newton, 44, wanted a spic and span bathroom so he poured together bleach and an ammonia-based cleaner. What he got was chlorine gas, whose fumes have been used as a weapon to kill large groups of people since World War I.

Newton was able to get to his front yard, where he called 911. When firemen and hazardous material crews arrived, they ventilated the house and scrubbed down the walls of the bathroom for 30 minutes to get rid of the smell.

Newton was taken to a hospital where he was treated for shortness of breath and irritation to his eyes and lungs. He was reported to be in stable condition.

A new sport popular with drunken youths is taking The Netherlands by storm: Smart car tossing.

The sport involves several people picking up the small, two door Smart cars and throwing them into the nearest Amsterdam canal. Reports weren’t clear on the scoring method for the sport, although speed and height of throw might be counted.

Local police aren’t very fond of Smart tossing, and until now have not spoken about the sport in case the publicity drove an increase in participants.

One report notes that Smart tossers who can’t find a Smart handy have turned to tossing other small vehicles and scooters into canals instead.

Given the popularity of small cars in the United States, Smart Tossing is unlikely to spread across the Atlantic.

40 years ago today mankind first stepped on a world other than our own, a monumental step forward in Nazi American science and one giant leap for mankind.

Many alive today won’t remember a time where man walked on the moon because no one has been back since 1972 (three years before I was born) but that hasn’t stopped interest in the alleged Apollo 11 hoax today. As of 6pm Pacific, Apollo 11 hoax was the most searched term on Google.

The so-called Apollo 11 hoax theory is part of a broader set of “Apollo Moon Landing hoax conspiracy theories” according to Wikipedia:

Your eyes aren’t deceiving you: the above picture shows an elephant painted as a panda bear.

The elephants at the Thai Royal Elephant Kraal were painted as pandas and paraded for visitors in response to a female panda who recently gave birth.

According to Weird Asia News, the black and white elephants were shown at the Royal Elephant Kraal in Ayutthaya province 50 miles north of Bangkok late last month. Schoolchildren were on hand to watch the painted creatures and the display was well received by the public.

Police in Connecticut and New Jersey are scratching their heads at a bizarre grave theft that has re-opened the wounds of a family who lost a two-year-old child in 2007.

The toddler, who remains unidentified publicly to protect his or her family, was found on the banks of the Passaic River in Clifton, NJ. The body, reported to be in surprisingly good condition, was in a sealed plastic bag. Clifton is about 50 miles away from Woodlawn Cemetery in Stamford. (Reports regarding the child’s gender are conflicting.)

News of the find came as a heart-breaking shock to the child’s parents. In a news conference, authorities said:

“The parents were shocked. (They) had no reason to believe the child was not in the ground, and seemed to be quite shocked when we delivered the news.”

Police also reported that the ground around the grave appeared undisturbed, but the coffin was “damaged.” As such, the theft of the child’s body is unlikely to be a very recent event.

Law enforcement is investigating whether the crime may be related to a ritual of some sort. Police indicated that little information would be released due to the sensitive nature of the crime, but that they are trying to determine when the theft occurred.

In a serious case of grumpy dwarf a body representing small people has called on the FCC to ban the use of the word “midgets” on television.

The Little People of America group are upset over an episode of Celebrity Apprentice where a team created an ad called “Jesse James and the Midgets” where it was suggested that little people could be washed then hung out to dry.

According to The Huffington Post, the group believes the term “midget” is similar to calling black people by the N word.

A Latvian finance company is asking customers to sign over their souls as collateral on new loans.

The Kontora loan company insists clients have to sign a contract that agrees to the collateral, “that is, my immortal soul.” Reuters reports that the company has promised not to employ debt collectors to collect souls in the case of loans going bad.

“If they don’t give it back, what can you do? They won’t have a soul, that’s all,” a company spokesman said. The company primarily acts as a pay day loan firm, lending small amounts at high interest rates.

A Warren, Ohio detective interviewing a woman in a murder investigation recently experienced the WTF moment of his career when a baby squirrel emerged from between the interviewee’s breasts.

Detective Warren Mackey said he was stunned when he was questioning a woman at a Ohio police station and a squirrel emerged from between her large breasts. The woman matter of factly reached up and replaced the squirrel to it’s fleshy resting place as if it was just a normal everyday thing for her.

The detective says that he was surprised but went on interviewing the woman as if nothing had happened and didn’t ask her about her furry friend.

The unusual incident was caught on closed circuit TV cameras at the police station. Here’s a video, in case you think we’re making this up:
