In “Perform This Way,” which parodies the Gaga hit, “Born This Way,” Yankovic superimposes his head on the body of a much younger woman, dons a meat dress and porcupine hat, and even makes light of Gaga’s alleged and often-denied copying of Madonna by featuring a Madge clone singing ‘Express Yourself.’

According to spinner, there was quite a bit of controversy surrounding the release of ‘Perform This Way.’ When Yankovic originally sent the lyrics off to camp Gaga they disapproved them, or at least it seemed that way.

The truth, which later surfaced, was that Gaga’s manager took it upon himself to decide the fate of the song, and never actually sent it to ‘Mother Monster’ for her opinion.

When Gaga finally did see it, she apparently loved it, declaring that having a song parodied by Weird Al is a “rite of passage” for pop stars.

Yankovic’s newest record, ‘Alpocalypse,’ is slated to hit record stores on June 21 via Jive.

Lady Gaga wouldn’t give Weird Al Yankovich the right to sell a parody of her song so the singer did what any good comedian/musician would do, he released it for free to his fans.

Weird Al recorded the song “I Perform This Way” a take on Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” which makes fun of the singers often eccentric lifestyle and performances.

According to Weird Al:

“I wrote and recorded what I thought was going to be the first single off of my new album: a parody of ‘Born This Way’ by Lady Gaga called ‘Perform This Way.’ But after hearing it, Lady Gaga decided not to give me permission to release the song, so… it won’t be coming out commercially anytime in the near future. Sorry.”

Yankovic blogged of his Gaga experience:

“Based on my concept, I was reasonably sure that my parody wasn’t really going to offend anybody…But I still decided, as an act of good karma, that I would donate all the money from sales of the song and music video to the Human Rights Campaign. My parodies have always fallen under what the courts call ‘fair use.’ And this one was no different, legally allowing me to record and release it without permission.”

“It has always been my personal policy to get the consent of the original artist before including my parodies on any album, so of course I will respect Gaga’s wishes. However, given the circumstances, I have no problem with allowing people to hear it online, because I also have a personal policy not to completely waste my stinking time.”

In an odd turn of events, Gaga claims she never denied Yankovich’s song and says she’s a fan of his work. There is the possibility that someone on Gaga’s end rejected the song without her permission.

After uploading the song to the internet Weird Al posted:

“…I uploaded the song to YouTube, and will be making free mp3 downloads available on weirdal.com shortly. Hope you enjoy it.”

Weird Al Yankovic is out with the latest single off his EP Internet Leaks, “Skipper Dan.”

In “Skipper Dan” Weird Al has some fun with the celebrity obsessed culture in Los Angeles, adding a serious does of reality with an actor who is acclaimed on stage, but ends up hosting cruises in Disney’s Jungle World.

MTV have taken censorship to new extremes, bleeping out the names of file sharing sites in a Weird Al Yankovic video on their new music video site which launched October 28.

The clip for Weird Al Yankovic’s 2006 viral hit “Don’t Download This Song” starts with the following lyrics

Once in a while maybe you will feel the urge
To break international copyright law
By downloading MP3s from file-sharing sites
Like Morpheus or Grokster or Limewire or KaZaA

But in MTV’s version, every named file sharing site is bleeped. It’s not uncommon for radio to bleep strong swearing, but this is something completely new. Talk about being so beholden to the record companies that you go overboard in the ass-kissing stakes.
