First we had the Fallout Monopoly game story that was followed by the video of a fan who created a working model of the Pipboy 3000, and now we have a fan made film that has become a web series.

Fallout: Nuka Break – The Movie was released on YouTube earlier this year and got such rave reviews from fans that the film’s creators, Wayside Creations, decided to create a web series to go along with the movie.

Here’s the movie for those who may have missed it the first time around.

Now here’s the first web episode of the Fallout: Nuka Break web series, with a new episode apparently planned every two week.

Oh, Glee- you wormed your way into our hearts and viewing schedules only to so abruptly leave us.

With the new season of Glee upcoming in the middle of April (a million years away), some previews and webisodes have been emerging. The video below is the first real full length Sue Sylvester rant we’ve gotten, and it’s about the gays! Sue tells us how she “C”s it, with frequent use of the words “swish it up a bit.” She almost kind of reminds me of a mini-Colbert here.

Brilliant, just brilliant.

This business video caught me right off guard. Like Steve Clayton, where I first learned about it, I figured that it would be dry and boring as hell but it definitely isn’t.

Think of the Jack & Suzy Welch show It’s Everybody’s Business as Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares where Jack Welch comes into a company and dissect it and what is doing right and doing wrong. For those of you who don’t know the name of Jack Welch he is a very highly regarded businessman and was Chairman and CEO of General Electric for twenty years.

In this show Jack and Suzy take on Hertz and their Connect business. Connect being the competitor to the ZipCar, a car sharing program that is making big gains around the world.

Just incase there are any problems with the embedded video you can watch it here at Steve Clayton’s blog

Donald Trump and “you’re fired” has nothing on Jack Welch and even though they are only 18 to 20 minute episodes they make for great watching.

In the nascent world of web produced episodic video shows everyone involved is still trying to figure out how it is going to work. Things like the optimum length of the (web)episodes, ownership of the product and whether they should be treated the same as their television counterparts. At one of the spectrum we have people like Kevin Pollak who produces a full length video chat show (and one I wouldn’t miss) while at the other end we have Felicia Day and her Guild web series.

However not everyone seems to think that these types of web video shows will last. One such person is Ron Moore, known for his work on Battlestar Galactica series, who has stated that he doesn’t like the format.

While speaking at the Banff World Television Festival, Moore said the network and studio requested short, Web-only stories about Galactica just before it headed into its third season in the fall of 2006.

Moore says there were difficulties off-the-bat. "I don’t like the runtime on it, it’s hard to tell a coherent story in three minutes when it’s part of an hour-long show," he said.

"I don’t know that it’s a format that’s really going to withstand the test of time. It feels like something that people do right now because of technical, sort of, limitations – viewer habits, how much they want to download."

"I could be wrong, but I don’t see in 10 years people are still doing webisodes."

Source: The Globe and Mail

I’m not sure exactly what Moore thinks will replace them unless of course it is things like your run of the mill (boring) televisions shows courtesy of geotarded services like Hulu. I think he is being extremely short sighted in his viewpoint and I would imagine that folks like Felicia and Kevin would disagree with him – I know I do.
