CBS has been very clear about this year’s Grammy Awards. They don’t want to see any exposed breasts, no nipple slips, no exposed derrieres, no exposed anythings. They just want a good, clean show.

An email leaked and posted to Deadline shows CBS’s “wardrobe advisory” for this Sunday’s 55th Annual Grammy Awards. In it, network heads ban exposed female breasts, buttocks, and genitals, and other curiosities like organization-boosting lapel pins. So basically no charity shout-outs?

The censorship of any kind of nudity on TV is pretty much a given. We all remember the controversy surrounding P!nk’s nude bodysuit from the 2010 Grammys, and we all know that there are some artists who like to push the envelope. But some of the other requirements put forth by CBS do seem a bit nit-picky.

The network source who provided the letter jokingly opined, “I assume that my lovely colleagues do not get this same email for the Oscars,” continuing, gravely serious, “And yes, this is a real email.”

Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure. Please avoid commercial identification of actual brand name products on T-shirts. Foreign language on wardrobe will need to be cleared. OBSCENITY OR PARTIALLY SEEN OBSCENITY ON WARDROBE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR BROADCAST. This as well, pertains to audience members that appear on camera. Finally, The Network requests that any organized cause visibly spelled out on talent’s wardrobe be avoided. This would include lapel pins or any other form of accessory.

I love how they warn against certain types of clothing because they’re “problematic.” That’s not ambiguous at all. And this line “be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible ‘puffy’ bare skin exposure,” ha ha ha WHAT?

Hey, why hasn’t country star Carrie Underwood suffered one of those odious wardrobe malfunctions yet? Well, because she’s kind of a “never-nude” according to a recent interview.

Speaking to Allure, Underwood talked country music, revealed her thoughts on gay marriage, and discussed why you’ll never see her suffer a wardrobe malfunction. You see, whenever she has to wear a potentially revealing outfit onstage, she wears shorts underneath kind of like a “never-nude” (or at least the ones depicted on Arrested Development).

“Underneath every skirt, every dress, I’m wearing shorts. So that everyone in the world knows, if I ever fell down, nobody would get a peek at anything,” Underwood said.

She also talked about her acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle, which she rooted in her Christian faith.

“I’m in favor of acceptance. And I am a Christian person, and I do love the Lord, and I feel no matter who you are,what you believe, how you live your life, it’s not my place to judge.”

In case you didn’t know, Hayden Panetierre admitted to modelling her character on Nashville after Underwood, reports Us Magazine. But Carrie says country stars aren’t like that at all down south.

“I’m not like that at all. It’s juicy, but I hope not everybody thinks that everything goes down like that in Nashville, and we’re evil. To be honest, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with other types of music — and we’re the least drama-rific people.”

Are you a fan of Carrie Underwood? I have to admit, going “never-nude” is a pretty smart move to avoid a wardrobe malfunction. But we all know those stars do it on purpose anyway.

Yesterday’s media blitz on Anne Hathaway’s Les Mis premiere wardrobe malfunction caught the actress’s attention this morning when she addressed her panty-less parade on the Today show with Matt Lauer.

Instead of talking about Les Mis, Lauer led with Monday’s wardrobe malfunction (he literally said the words “seen a lot of you lately” to Hathaway). Hathaway put on the self-righteous hat and gave the media a bit of a knuckle-rapping for running the photos and making such a big deal out of the whole thing.

“It was obviously an unfortunate incident. It kind of made me sad on two accounts. One was that I was very sad that we live in an age when someone takes a picture of another person in a vulnerable moment, and rather than delete it, and do the decent thing, sells it. And I’m sorry that we live in a culture that commodifies the sexuality of unwilling participants. Which brings us back to Les Mis [...] So lets get back to Les Mis.”

The Daily Mail reports that the 30-year-old actress was initially “devastated” by the shots, but she showed some serious poise on Today if you ask us. Of course, her seemingly smug response will cause that part of the internet that hates all-things Anne Hathaway to hate her all the more, but we have to hand it to her for how she handled this.

“Mom tone” and finger-wagging notwithstanding, this is exactly how you handle an embarrassing moment. You acknowledge it, and you move on quickly.

Nicely done, Anne Hathaway. Some may hate you, but we applaud you for how you handled your wardrobe malfunction. Here’s Hathaway on Today:

Anne Hathaway suffered a wardrobe malfunction at the New York premiere of Les Miserables Monday. By “wardrobe malfunction,” we mean, “she forgot to wear underwear.” Don’t worry: There were plenty of photographers there to document it.

Hathaway slid out of her vehicle to a flock of hungry paps, dressed in a black taffeta gown and sexy bondage boots. Her dress’ thigh-high slit slipped just a bit too high, bringing Hathaway’s britches-less lady-parts some unwanted attention. Like we keep saying, there were enough photographers there to ensure that the unfortunate wardrobe malfunction was snapped from every conceivable angle.

Afterwards, Hathaway showed no signs of self-awareness, posing for pictures in the daring dress and seemingly none-the-wiser regarding her panty-less slip, reports Us Weekly. The rest of the evening seemed to go off without a hitch.

In all honesty, every actress risks the embarrassing wardrobe malfunction at least once in her career. Hathaway kind of hit the jackpot with this one. She deftly avoided the trashy nip-slip, the awkward pastie peeker, the impossibly obvious see-through shirt and/or dress, and countless others. With so much variety, flashing your lady-parts out-and-out is pretty straightforward.

We predict that readers will comb the internet for uncensored pics for a few days, and this will all blow over (and no, such a photo is not posted below).

However, there is a sect of the internet dedicated to the hatred of all-things Anne Hathaway. Her wardrobe malfunction will probably further justify their prejudices over the next couple of days, but, thus far, Twitter has been Twitter:

Ellen’s Sofia Vergara Halloween costume came complete with a Colombian accent, some exaggerated curves, and a wardrobe malfunction.

The talks how host put on the Modern Family star’s sexy green Emmy Dress at the start of her show this morning. Ellen tried to speak in a Colombian accent (it didn’t go well) and wore a body suit in an attempt to mimic Vergara’s famous curves. Ellen also made fun of Vergara’s Emmy wardrobe malfunction with a revealing rip in the back of her dress.

Ellen, in her best Colombian accent, said:

“Mucho [sic] gracias! I am easy breezy beautiful Cover Girl from Colombia! Happy Halloween. As you can see, I put my pumpkins out.”

Ellen then turned around and revealed the split in the back of the green dress. (If you don’t remember, Vergara tweeted out a “cheeky” picture of her wardrobe malfunction right before she was supposed to take the stage at the Emmys.)

Sofia then came out on stage, pretending to be upset with Ellen, and started mocking the talk show host’s American accent. It was funny but both Ellen and Sofia are pretty bad with their accents.

Always be prepared! Nicki Minaj had an Emma Watson moment during a performance on Sunday, nearly flashing her bare breasts to an audience in the UK. Luckily, Minaj came prepared, and strategically placed pasties prevented the singer from letting it all hang out.

The American Idol judge suffered a wardrobe malfunction over the weekend, exposing her breasts to a Manchester crowd during the UK leg of her Pink Friday: Reloaded tour, reports HollywoodLife.

Now, Nicki is no stranger to accidental exposure, having suffered a nip slip during a Good Morning America gig last year, according to E!Online. The singer apparently learned her lesson, as she seemed a but more prepared for the Manchester show. Surely enough, as her breasts began to wiggle their way out of her black bustier while she belted out her most popular hits, the crowd was denied an eye-full of Nicki’s breasts thanks to the pasties covering them up and concealing them from prying eyes.

For her part, Minaj didn’t seem terribly phased by the wardrobe malfunction. Of course she wasn’t, she was probably backstage trying on the costume thinking “My girls are going to fly right out of this thing” which is why she pastied-up. She did address the wardrobe malfunction later in the show, however, saying to the crowd:

“You guys have seen my boobs before,” playing the wardrobe malfunction off. “You won’t tell anyone, will you?”

Our lips are sealed. We’re just glad you’re in the news for any reason other than the feud between you and Mariah Carey, which is totally not staged for ratings whatsoever.

Jennifer Lopez suffered from an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction on Saturday night, a malfunction that led to a “nip slip” on stage in front of thousands of fans.

Sure, it wasn’t quite the controversy created by the Hulk Hogan sex tape or the Kate Middleton bare bottom and topless photos, but it’s still an embarrassing moment.

Being the consummate professional she is, J-Lo continued on with the show without missing a beat.

Jennifer Lopez was performing at the Unipol Arena in Italy when the dress tape holding up her breasts gave way on one side.

According to concert attendees, Jenny from the block continued her dance routine and even let one of her backup dancer grope her breast. Perhaps the groping was meant to cover up her breast, but, either way, it was a nice save.

Nip slips as they are often referred to are fairly common among female celebrities. The most famous wardrobe malfunction of this type of course still goes to Janet Jackson during her 2004 performance with Justin Timberlake during their Super Bowl half-time performance.

The Jennifer Lopez wardrobe malfunction joins other famous celebrities who have accidentally bared their breasts, celebrities who include Jessica Simpson, Jessica Alba, Katie Perry, Mariah Carey, Lindsey Lohan, and others.

Katy Perry shows off a bit more skin than she anticipated while enjoying the Raging Water water park ride in San Dimas, California. Perry braved the surfing simulation water ride but accidentally slipped out of the back of her bikini bottoms when emerging from the water. Katy Perry’s water park wardrobe malfunction resulted in an unintentional “mooning” of the crowd, the Daily Mail, which published the photos, reports.

The popular singer reportedly loves amusement parks and appeared undaunted by the overexposed skin and went on to enjoy her day at the San Dimas water park after the wardrobe malfunction. Perry fans who gathered around the water park ride to watch her try her luck at simulated surfing, cheered her on as she simply pulled her bikini bottoms back up and moved onto the next water slide.

Katy Perry’s significant other, John Mayer ,was not on hand to witness his girlfriend’s accidental nudity at the California water park. Katy Perry, who is known for her immaculate appearance and rather flamboyant style was make-up free during her water park visit.

Perry’s divorce from actor Russell Brand was official last month. The English star performed at the Olympic closing ceremony yesterday and then allegedly spent time with his new love interest, Isabella Brewster.

Perry, 27, giggled and waved to fans as she enjoyed her day at the water park. The pop singer nearly had another wardrobe mishap when her black and whit halterneck bikini top slipped to one side while she was enjoying a trip down a different water slide while at the San Dimis attraction.

If you’ve ever played, or even watched, water polo, you know that there is a lot of grabbing and pulling underneath the surface of the water, and sometimes, especially for the woman, a body part or two may pop out from behind the swimsuit. Last night, NBC aired one of those water polo wardrobe malfunctions on TV.

The incident occurred during the U.S. women’s match against Spain on Wednesday night. A U.S. player grabbed the swimsuit of her Spanish opponent and accidentally exposed the woman’s breast. At the time, NBC was using one of its underwater cameras and broadcast the women’s naked breast out for millions of people to see.

The commentator said: “That was Kamie Craig doing the grabbing but the Spaniard retaliated…”

NBC has been criticized for its coverage of the 2012 London Olympics. The station has decided to delay coverage of some of the live events for the prime-time broadcast. Zap2it reports that the Water Polo matched was broadcast live last night, which probably explains why the wardrobe malfunction made it to the air.

Nothing stops Lindsay Lohan from acting through tough spots when she is “in the zone” according to people close to the actress.  Well, the director might need her to stop and take a deep breath so he can use the footage he takes on the set of “Liz and Dick”. Lohan couldn’t keep herself contained in her little sundress as they were shooting scenes for the made for TV movie recently.

Lindsay was filming a yacht scene in which her character Elizabeth Taylor gets into a fight with her husband Richard Burton (played by Grant Bowler).  The scene involves Bowler grabbing Lohan’s arm and violently pulling her around.  It was during these scenes where Lohan’s tiny little sun dress was not able to contain her ample size assets.

Lohan’s role as Elizabeth Taylor for the film “Liz and Dick” will appear on Lifetime Television in a made for TV work this November.  Lohan is trying to jump start her stalled career after the last few years of hers have been plagued by drug abuse, failed relationships and stints in rehab and prison for theft.

Lohan is very excited to be playing a character with the fame and depth of Elizabeth Taylor.

Lohan said,

“I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well.”

Not everyone has been supportive of the troubled actress playing Elizabeth Taylor.  Earlier this year Rosie O’Donnell came out swinging in the press accusing Lohan of not having the level of maturity needed to play the part.

Kanye West endured a brief wardrobe malfunction while hitting the town with new girlfriend Kim K.

The rapper, who actually enjoys a reputation of being a well-dressed individual, was snapped stepping out of a car with Kardashian just as his trousers started to fall down. Paparazzi captured a considerable portion of Kanye thigh before West buckled up (see below). It was in stark contrast to Kardashian, who looked every inch the perfectly-groomed skinwaster.

The 34-year-old West and Kardashian, 31, were arriving back at the rapper’s apartment after a romantic dinner date at a Manhattan eatery when Kanye’s leather trousers decided to head south.

Witnesses say that Kanye and Kim both looked debonair during their meal, but after the car journey home, it was a different story. Maybe one too many desserts had been consumed? That’s the cleanest explanation I can think of. We’re a family site.

Earlier on that day, Kardashian had appeared with sister Khloe and brother-in-law Lamar Odom and took to the basketball court to shoot some hoops.

Lamar had taken Kim and Khloe to his hometown of Queens in New York, to show the privileged pair where he had grown up. Following their spot of sporty fun, the reality TV star made a quick change and headed out to meet West.

If you’ve been dwelling under a nice rock recently, the pairing of West and Kardashian has been building up for months. At the start of April, it was confirmed the two are now dating, with West reportedly describing Kardashian as ‘his Beyonce.’

Washington D.C. – The Supreme Court will decide whether nudity on public television can be counted as free speech.  Janet Jackson’s now infamous “wardrobe malfunction” and the massive fine that accompanied it are headed to the court to decide.  The Obama Administration has asked the court to decide the fate of the fines.

A federal appeals court already told the networks that their $550,000 fine was improperly levied by the Federal Communications Commission.  The agency had punished the network fine after the pop singer’s breast was briefly exposed during a live halftime show with fellow entertainer Justin Timberlake at the 2004 Super Bowl.

The Supreme Court has another case on its docket dealing with whether profanity can be censored by the FCC.

The Justice Department told the High Court that Janet Jackson’s incident had no “fleeting images exemption from indecency enforcement” and that the singer’s act was “shocking and pandering,” airing “during a prime-time broadcast of a sporting event that was marketed as family entertainment and contained no warning that it would include nudity.”

But CBS said that the government’s fine system is arbitrary, with the FCC fining some and leaving other alone for the same behavior.

The three-judge Philadelphia-based 3rd Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals agreed, finding for a second time the FCC had acted “arbitrarily and capriciously,” since the commission did not give the media companies proper prior warning about subsequent changes in its enforcement policies.

The judge for the appeals court wrote,

“An agency may not apply a policy to penalize conduct that occurred before the policy was announced,”

CBS is now arguing to the High Court to just leave the case alone and let the appeals court ruling stand.  If the court disagrees witht hem then oral arguments will be scheduled for after the summer.

Congress quickly reacted at the time to the visual shocker by increasing the limit on indecency fines tenfold, up to $325,000 per violation per network. And it said each local affiliate that aired such incidents also could be punished by the same amount.

Family and religious advocacy groups came down hard against the appeals court ruling.

Parents Television Council President Tim Winter said of the ruling,

“Today’s ruling reaches the level of judicial stupidity and is a sucker-punch to families everywhere. In rendering an opinion it wishes to foist on the nation, the Third Circuit has chosen to ignore the law, the facts, Supreme Court precedent, the intent of the Congress and the will of the American people. How can nudity and a striptease in front of 90 million unsuspecting TV viewers not qualify as indecency?”

Bethenny Frankel revealed a little more than she bargained for in an interview with Anderson Cooper that aired Monday.

The 41-year-old star of Bethenny Ever After inadvertently flashed her bright pink underwear to Cooper’s studio audience, after she accepted a push-up challenge from the host.

It seems Frankel got a little overexcited for the contest between the two. As she jumped down to the studio floor to commence push-ups, her flighty dress flew clear over her buttocks, to much whooping from the audience and a shocked screech from the former ‘Real Housewife’.

The wardrobe malfunction, which occurred during a taping of the show, was blurred in the broadcast.

Cooper could do little but chuckle at the accidental exposure, and Frankel herself took it in good spirits, scoping the audience with a reddened face. “How’d it look?” she asked the crowd, who responded with cheers. “Pink? You saw the pink? Alright.”

Then she pointed out that hey, at least she was wearing underwear, something Snooki might not have done.

Cooper didn’t miss an opportunity to tease the celebrity, pointing out, “That whole side of the room is like ‘yes’ and this side of the room is “what did we miss?’”

Not So with Kelly.

While her figure did look amazing, viewers had started to write into the show from the minute she walked out.  They were writing in comments such as these,

“People keep saying it’s a nice dress but your nipples should not be showing,”

“I think your headlights are on.”

Ripa starting defending herself saying that what people were seeing was not in fact her nipples but the “darts” of the dress.  That it was the way the dress was made.

She said,

“It’s not nipples, it the darts of the dress.” Ripa pointed to her chest. “It’s the stitching of the dress.”

She then went on to thank the audience for making her feel insecure, saying it with a laugh.

Her next guest was Reese Witherspoon and Kelly Ripa immediately asked Reese if she could borrow her jacket to which Reese replied,

“You need a thicker bra Kelly”

It seems as if more and more stars are having these kinds of wardrobe malfunctions and are pruposefully wearing more risque outfits in order to generate buzz.

Believe it or not, there is still hand-wringing occurring over the Janet Jackson boobage flashing scandal of like six hundred years ago.

Actually, it occurred back in 2004. Which is still like technically a hundred years ago. But it’s still being played out in courts and among outrage groups who are concerned about the lasting emotional carnage of a bare breast being shown on television for a fraction of a second nearly seven years ago.

Today a federal appeals court ruled that CBS should not have been fined more than half a million clams for the fleeting titty image, which occurred during the Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake performance of the track “Rock Your Body.” Somewhat unfortunately for everyone associated with the incident, the flashing coincided with Timberlake’s recitation of the lyric, “I’ll have you naked by the end of this song.” The incident garnered a disproportionate amount of attention and outrage and coined the term “wardrobe malfunction,” which was the official explanation for why the incident went down the way it did.

As the appeal ruling came in today, one of the loudest squeaky wheels- the Parents Television Council- released a statement decrying the injustice of a breast going unpunished on television. President Tim Winter whined:

“Today’s ruling reaches the level of judicial stupidity and is a sucker-punch to families everywhere. In rendering an opinion it wishes to foist on the nation, the Third Circuit has chosen to ignore the law, the facts, Supreme Court precedent, the intent of the Congress and the will of the American people…”

He continued:

“How can nudity and a striptease in front of 90 million unsuspecting TV viewers not qualify as indecency? We’re not talking about content that aired after 10 pm in front of 90 million adults. Each and every year the Super Bowl broadcast draws the highest viewership ratings of the year, including tens of millions of children and families.”

I wonder if Mr. Winter is as concerned with proposed cuts to children’s healthcare programs in many states, a circumstance that stands to do actual harm to millions of children across the US, or if he’s just happy if they don’t see boobs on TV?

What you are about to see, you cannot un-see. Nancy Grace accidentally exposed her breast last night on “Dancing With the Stars.”

After Nancy Grace’s wardrobe malfunction, the CNN reporter kept on dancing, apparently not noticing that her nipple was exposed for millions to see. Grace only covered up when host Tom Bergeron pointed out that her breast was falling out of her dress.

Bergeron said:

“Let me help you out there a little bit. It’s alright. On the European version of that would be perfectly fine.”

Grace buried her head into her partner’s chest, but didn’t seem to be bothered too much by the incident.

The Huffington Post notes that the incident was edited out of the west coast version of “Dancing with the Stars.”

Despite the wardrobe malfunction, or maybe because of it, Nancy Grace scored pretty well on last night’s show. The judges said that Grace’s routine was “refreshing” even though “it was a bit top heavy at times.”

CBS reports that J.R. Martinez, Kristin Cavallari, Ricki Lake were the top three contestants at the end of last night’s show, while David Arquette, Carson Kressley, Chaz Bono were at the bottom. Nancy Grace, who was toward the bottom prior to the show, took a big step up with 21 points last night.

It seems that Janet Jackson isn’t the only female singer to have one of those famous ‘wardrobe malfunctions’ except it seems that singer Kelly Rowland decided to do Jackson one better.

While performing her hit Motivation at the Club 4Sixty6 on Sunday in New Jersey Rowland raised her arms which caused her skin tight outfit to move upwards revealing her breasts for all to see.

One of the judges for the British version of the X-Factor show tweeted out afterwards:

“New Jersey crowd was amazing!! hope you enjoyed the show and didnt mind the peekaboo LOL!!!,”

Smack-talking Knocked Up actress Katherine Heigl suffered an embarrassing moment on stage at the ShoWest awards when the strap of her dress mutinied and one of her breasts tried to escape.

In the video below, you can see Heigl’s mortifying moment as she suffered what is now known as a “wardrobe malfunction.” Heigl turned to host Billy Bush to request assistance with the wayward frock.

This week’s Katy Perry news comes to us via The Daily News, who reported that Katy Perry was left almost topless after her dress halter strap broke. As she fell to her knees next to her guitarist, she also showed off the gusset of her tights. Classy! She was later seen on the catwalk with her trademark pink microphone and her wardrobe malfunction barely under control.

Well, it was a charity concert, and that was a donation that some people weren’t expecting. Bonus points for the surprise factor! Woo!
