Vodafone UK is now taking pre-orders for the Google Nexus One. The Android based device is set for an April 30th release date and customers willing to grab at least a £35 ($54) monthly plan with a two-year contract will receive the unit for free. A £25 ($39) plan with a two-year contract is also listed, however a price for the phone has yet to be shown.

The Vodafone Nexus One comes equipped with a 4GB microSD card, provides 1GB of 3G data per month and 1GB of BT’s Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots.

The unit also features a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen, GPS capabilities and Wi-Fi.

To sell the units in Europe Google broke from their current standard practices which meant the phone would not only be sold through Google’s own portal. They’ve also received a leg up on the Apple iPhone 3GS which requires a £45 ($70) per month plan before it’s handed over without any cost to the customer.

Android’s second-largest market is Europe, so getting the Nexus One into Vodafone customers hands is a battle worth winning. [Electronista]

The Google Nexus One, as expected, is getting some CDMA love, at this time via Sprint Wireless. The device offers the same specs hardware wise users have come to know, while implementing Sprint 3G capabilities.

Verizon Wireless and Vodafone are also expected to gain support soon with “Spring 2010″ being listed on the phones official customer page.

The Sprint version will feature the SnapDragon 1GHz processor, Google Android 2.1 OS, a 3.7 inch AMOLED display, Wi-Fi and other features found on the original T-Mobile friendly version.

Customers can buy the device from the Google Nexus One web page, Sprint Wireless will not carry the device, giving their customers the same opportunity available to T-Mobile customers. At the time of this posting the Sprint version has not yet been posted to the website, we’ll just sit here twiddling our thumbs until it shows up. [SlashGear]

Vodafone UK has put up a pre-order / pre-release page for the Sony Ericsson showing an arrival date of April 2010, a date that’s certainly in line with Japan and Germany release months.

The device, which has been hotly anticipated, features the Google Android Donut OS, an 8MP camera, built-in GPS and a widescreen output that’s perfect for video and gaming output.

Hopefully unlike past Sony Ericsson devices (especially the X1) we don’t see the release date creep back further and further into oblivion. In any respects the device looks sleek and offers an amazon mobile OS, so hopefully the date sticks and the hardware ends up matching the capabilities of the Android OS. We’ll update if anything changes. [Vodafone]

UK wireless carrier Vodafone has announced that they will begin selling various versions of the iPhone in January 2010. Users who choose the right plans will even be able to pick up their devices for free! While they may be a little late to the iPhone game, it’s still a welcomed edition to the companies arsenal of available devices.

Customers who agree to a £35 per month plan can pick up the iPhone 3G for free, while iPhone 3GS units are available with 16GB on a £45/month device and a 32GB version is available for £75 a month. All options include a standard 2 year contract.

One big drawback at this time for Vodafone customers is the 1GB per month data limit, although free WiFi is available and they do allow tethering for an additional £5 a month with a 500MB data limit.

The Motorola Droid has been announced in Quad-Band GSM form for Europe and features great specs, including a new multitouch display, a first for Android based devices and Google Android 2.0. The unit will first launch on Vodafone and O2 in Germany and Italy.

The European model features 900/2100 UMTS/WCDMA 3G support and ditches Google Maps (turn-by-turn directions) in place of MOTONAV, although once Google moves their turn-by-turn directions out of U.S. beta testing that may change.

The big focus however is the programs multitouch display with pinch-zoom touching abilities that should bring a new dimension to the Android interface.

No word yet on a release date or any type of pricing from Motorola, although rumors are pointing to a November 9th release date for the Moto Milestone with an expected price of €404.20 before taxes ($595)

Unfortunately there’s no North American 3G for the device which means “grey market” consumers will have to choose whether 3G data speeds or Multitouch capabilities are more important to them.
O2 will lose their exclusivity for the iPhone 3GS on November 9th, a day before the date that will see the device not coincidentally land at UK cellular provider Orange. Currently the carrier is only able to offer iPhone and iPhone 3G devices.

While pricing on both carriers should remaining the same, Orange is promising “value added” services, although we aren’t quite sure that that means at this point.

Carphone Warehouse and Phone4U are expected to carry the phones on behalf of O2. Then adding to the already crowded iPhone UK market will be Vodafone sometime in early 2010, with carrier “3″ looking to also adopt the phone sometime in 2010.
Vodafone UK has officially announced that the HTC Tattoo will be available on their European network come this October. The Tattoo is being billed as the first “entry level” phone to feature the Google Android mobile platform.

The Tattoo not only features a 3.2MP camera, Bluetooth and WiFi b/g, it also comes equipped with 3G data connectivity, a built-in 3.5mm headphone jack and a MicroSD card slot for external memory storage.

HTC calls the device the first fully “user customizable device” which allows users to set how items display on their phone, while offering swappable phone covers to further personalize the external look on their Smartphone.

The HTC Tattoo also features a decently sized 3.2 inch touchscreen, unfortunately that display is resistive rather that capacitive in nature.

Here’s the official Press Release:

Vodafone has acquired ZYB, a Danish company that connects cell phone features to the internet. ZYB lets users sync information like their contacts, pictures, texts, and calendar appointments with an internet database, creating a dynamic relationship. Users can update the info either via their phones or via the ZYB online interface.

ZYB also allows photo sharing and content tagging with friends and is currently preparing to launch a new Social Phonebook feature. The new tool will let you see friends’ physical locations, availability, and even connect to their Facebook and Twitter posts from your cell phone.

ZYB says it’ll continue to offer all its features for free under the Vodafone deal and will not limit its services to Vodaphone customers.
